Congress, though out gunned acts like they must show up to work even though they don't want to, they have no passion and have been beaten down at every turn.

BTW none of our beloved front running candidates bothered to show for the recent debates in congress leading up to the 555 billion check to Bush. Guess campaigning means more than taking a couple of days off to actually push for something.
I'll never understand why the Democrats cave under the mere THREAT of a Republican filibuster...
LET them. Over, and over and over. let the MSM try to explain why the Repubs are filibustering S-chip, or a timetable for troop withdrawal. Shove the obvious into Americans faces until they get the message.

Let the Preznit veto one bill after another. it's a win-win for Dems to expose the obstructionists for who they are, and what they really stand for.

It would be a campaign commercial bonanza for sure.

I really believe that the Dems aren't cowards, they are complicit.

A.) funding the war as per the demand of the president, albeit reluctantly @ least publicly........

B.) telling him to fuck off in any of the various ways the forefathers prepared for them... Thus showing the president as well as the rest of the world that the American ppl & the American congress do not support this illegal war.

The truth is Bush still has the $400 plus military budget to use as he sees fit.

He'll also take money from social security and medicare if pushed to fund his troops in Iraq.

He may invade Iran and "need" more money

The problem in this debate is the overly simple belief of the American public.

We still believe, for example, that if we make something illegal, it stops happening; like drugs, rape, murder, prostitution, etc.... Fact is it doesn't.

The belief that congress sending no funds will get our troops out of Iraq is equally wrong.

The brutal truth is: Congress CANNOT do anything about Iraq until we have a new president or enough votes to throw Bush/Cheney out.

As I've posted before, given the overall situation as it is, the best we can hope for is the status quo until we change presidents, and hope deaths are kept to a minimum.

I strongly disagree............. Congress is cowardly. PERIOD!!!!!!!

One need only look @ the history of the relationship between the two to see this is hardly the first time...........

IMO you give "your congress" way to much credit for so little done...

So bush is gonna rob the old folks to pay for his war.........??? LOL

I dare him to try.......... Nothing would turn the entire nation against him faster........

Oh the poor children............. The damn kids don't vote.. THose old MF do......... & they got money......... Lots of money & lots of power to wield......

It may be easy taking candy or healthcare from a baby...... Try doing it from an old women w/ a big walking stick....... Someone is gonna get hurt.......

There is a big problem here beyond this.... THat one man has to power in this country/ the entire world to make policy......... He does whatever he feels like & we & the rest of the world just have to go along.......

That is not bushs fault that is the fault of our system.... A system that allows this & any president (past or future) to do whatever the hell he wants to... Make/break treaties..... give a wink @ others that do & set precedence in policy or lack there of that historically has been generally followed by his predecessors......

The actual truth is that there is already precedent for the Congress to withold funding for a war effort. It happened during the tail end of the Vietnam war, and has been upheld, I believe, by the Supreme Court.

Congress simply legislates that NO funds be used for XYZ purpose -- it then becomes illegal for Bush to send money to continue the war effort. Doesn't mean that he won't, but it seems to be prima facia evidence of an(other) impeachable offense.
