Should Pervez Musharraf Postpone The Pakistan Elections?

Dodd said he should today and i have to agree. the party has to be granted time to put up another candidate. bush is calling for elections now. that got us hamas last time.

I think Musharraf and Nawaz Sharif (the heir apparent to the party's leadership) need to quickly sit down and discuss it. But that will be extremely difficult in the near term, since both he and Bhutto's adviser Husain Haqqani have already blamed Musharraf for her death.

I don't see how Musharraf will have any legitimacy if he doesn't postpone the elections. And of course the country would violently erupt, further weakening him.

I fear it's going to get a lot uglier over there for a while.

uglier is very, very not good for a nuclear-armed country. they can't possibly hit us but the weapons could destroy anyone in the immediate vicinity.

it may seem crazy, but i remember musharraf from "the daily show". entertaining guy. i can see how bush could be mesmerized as dumb as he is. the next few days will tell how much he wants peaceful freedom for pakistan. he could declare military rule again. it's up in the air.

I agree with Dodd too..I think that the Bush.."Go about our lives or the terrorists win" doesnt apply to this case

I fail to see how they could get a fair representation of who the people want in an election if there is chaos, so I have to say yes. That is not to say that they will get a fair representation if there isn't chaos, but it should be more accurate.
