Liberal Scum

A person cannot actually be liberal or conservative. These terms only truly apply to the inanimate; such as taxes or borders. But, a person can be opened or closed. Why would a person choose to be closed to other people? Closing the borders makes perfect sense, under the right circumstances... but why does one person close themselves to another?

Alcohol is a substance which helps people open. Closed people are very fond of alcohol. They must find some pleasure in opening up, since alcohol does little else other than mildly kill pain.

Marijuana is a fascinating substance which, unlike alcohol, only rewards the person who is already open. This is why closed people are opposed to marijuana. When the closed person smokes marijuana, they receive an intense, painful experience. When the open person smokes marijuana, they receive a mild, pleasurable experience. The closed person chooses to oppose and fight the substance, rather than understand where the pain is truly attempting to guide them.

There is great wisdom, under everyone's noses. Things like pain, pleasure, fear, hunger, taste, smell... these are your guides. But they should never be your masters. And correctly interpreting their guidance is crucial.

The ban does open the door to a number of interesting questions about the nature of private property, and if we really do "own" property in the absolute sense.

As a matter of non-fiction, this opening and closing thing is very-extremely significant. In most existences, if not all, you should find more creatures than only yourself. If you do not open up, you cannot connect with these other creatures. And what is life without connecting to living creatures? Do you want to connect with a couch?
