Will Al Gore endorse one of the candidates...

...and if so, will it make a significant difference in the way people will vote?

I've been asking this question for the last six months and would like to know the answer too.

I think it would be a wash if he did...sure it might motivate some to support that candidate. But Gore is also viewed as a fruitcake by many and it may disenfranchise others...

You do realize the democratic support and pull he (still) has don't you? The majority of the republicans would certainly call him a fruitcake but I think that's about the extent of it. I don't think you are giving him enough credit here, it could have a profound outcome on a candidate if he chose to endorse them.

I think he will hedge his bets. He wants to work with the new admin to stop Global Warming. I don't think he wants to support Hillary, but doesn't want to piss her off. For all the poor me crying, she is a tough customer that won't forgive a slap in the face ( or a pinch on the cheek)

I think this is one of those issues that can back-fire just as easy as it can do good--depending how it is depicted in the media and by the opposition.

If Gore endorsed Edwards for example, they might say Edwards can't achieve this on his own so he calls someone who can do it for him??

Or the endorsement just catches on and Gore followers pull their support from others and vote like crazy for Edwards??

If I was Gore, I would keep to the sidelines...

Totally agree...

I was hoping he would endorse before the Iowa caucus, and now, before super Tues.

I know both the Edwards and Obama campaigns have met with him or "his people" about this.

Until he does endorse a candidate, there will always be speculation that he may yet toss his hat into the ring, especially if nobody gets enough delegates to cinch the nomination at the first ballot at the convention.

I don't think you'll see him endorse anyone until after the conventions. Even then, if they don't stand tall on environmental issues, he may just take a pass.

I'm hoping at the last minute he decides to run.

What would the point of that be? Everyone should assume that he'll support the Democratic nominee, right?
