I was under the impression that the candidates were going to refrain from personal attacks and stick to the issues. Hillary basically said "Obama cant run the government and he doesnt know what he is doing".

This is being addressed on two threads, but I will jump in here.

One of the excuses that I have heard Hillary and others who voted
for war or further inspection or whatever in October of 2002 was that they were not privy to the intelligence the President claimed to have.
So how in the hell can Hillary be all smug and act now like she would
have access to any more privileged national security intelligence than any other president-elect would have in January 2009?

This is a presidential campaign. There is no truce. What they agreed to was not to make race and gender issues. They had never been an issue made by the candidates, they were there inflated by the media. That hype is hopefully now at an end. But let's be sure of one thing: there is no truce in campaigns. There is no peace treaty. It ends with one winner and one or more losers.

Hillary is no better than any sleezy republican with her attacks and a very poor representative for the democratic party.

Again, the so-called "truce" related to race issues.

But, really, Obama's experience -and Hillary's for that matter, especially how it seems she has largely exaggerated her resume-- is fair game.

Oh I agree with the actual meaning and gravity of what he said, in a personal sense. I should always be more clear regarding whether the potential reaction I refer to is my own, the one I expect from opponents, or the one that will stick on some less critical, cynical, or informed portions of the electorate.

I just think he caused himself damage with a possibly significant portion of the electorate. I agree completely on your assessment of the significance you perceive.

The last 8 years and longer have convinced me that I am not like all others out there. I've had my face rubbed in that so many times that I cannot forget it.

I am watching MSNBC now and Norah Odonnel had a report that took that little Obama blurb and ran with it, not unexpectedly, I might add.
