Obama beats Hillary in MoveOn poll

From 02/01/08 letter from MoveOn:

Dear MoveOn member,
With hundreds of thousands of ballots cast across the country, for the first time in MoveOn's history, we've voted together to endorse a presidential candidate in the primary. That candidate is Barack Obama.

Something big is clearly happening. A few weeks ago, MoveOn members we surveyed were split. But with John Edwards bowing out, progressives are coming together. Obama won over 70% of the vote yesterday, and he's moving up in polls nationwide
---------------------------------------

The MoveOn vote was 197,444 for Obama and 83, 084 for H. Clinton,
70.4% to 29.6%.

I finally have started to gravitate toward a candidate and Obama is the one. Experience means nothing to me anymore. I want someone new. Someone who does not view the country the same as the tired old fools who have help get us to where we are now. The more I look at the alternatives the more Obama seems the only way to go especially with Edwards out of the race. Obama Edwards is the ticket I will be casting my vote for.

I hope you are not alone. Not sure that Edwards would run for VP
again, but we shall see.

I do not know for certain that Obama is a visionary or that he would win in November if he rec'd nomination. But I do know that HClinton is
not a visionary and that she will not win in November. (Unless there is a third party candidate -- which is how her husband got elected.)

I have had and still have my doubts about either of them getting elected with the amount of fear that has been pumped into the minds of the people but with the candidates on the opposite side I think there is a good chance the right thing will happen.

Here's to hope.

He's also just picked up another endorsement from Rep Jim Oberstar (D-MN)

They are really starting to pile up for him, glad to see this.

Correction: I meant to say that "I do not know for certain ..."
Leaving out that "not" makes me look like an idiot.

I agree about the fear. The hatewingers are saving all their ammunition against Hillary until two minutes after she nails the nomination. The Snopes.com email about Obama is very troubling.
I will post Keith Olbermann's comments on that email on another thread.

there won't be a third party candidate that will split the republican vote the way ross perot did, but, if hillary is the nominee and nader runs again, i bet he'll actually pick up some electoral votes this time around

With the amount of fear that has been pumped into the minds of the people...combined with our whole national history of sexism and racism...EVEN with the candidates on the opposite side, I think there is a good chance that the right-read-that-Republican thing will happen.

I'm a big fan of hope...hope's good. Generalized health, prosperity and security is better...not so much of the misery that incites hope-read-that-desperation. That stuff costs money. Love's good, too.

Love makes the world go round. Money keeps it on its axis.

Nah, I knew what you meant to say.

I want to see that as I haven't had the time to watch much of anything the last few months.

The one thing I would say is that I think people are getting a little tired of the fear mongering approach the right has been using the last 7 years. People want to move on so the attacking with fear might backfire on them.

I am personally and completely underwhelmed by MoveOn, except for this: the whole thing being run by one dude out of one apartment, that's impressive.

Otherwise...THIS COULD NOT BE MORE OBVIOUS...MoveOn is having zero impact on the double-trouble, double-feature of Politics As Usual and Big Bad Business.
