Confessions of an Obama Supporter Willing to Consider Hillary

I'm starting to get a hard on for Hillary.

And I don't mean sexually, thank you.

I first and foremost want Obama to win. I think he will send a knockout punch to the world like no other candidate any of us have ever witnessed (I'm a 47 year old white male. A Paul McCartney fan. A Kennedy enthusiast. A Democrat who understands the very necessary changing of the guard that Ronald Reagan brought to America ((until he fucked up later, but that's another story))). Imagine, with all this fucked up extremist militant nausea in the world and we put a BLACK MAN in office??? America, one of the most racially divided nations on Earth sends a BLACK MAN to the White House? That is a super huge, super mega, super dupa FUCK YOU to the extremists of this world. It says, "Hey, WE can settle our differences and go with the person who made the most sense for America, in SPITE of our differences"!

But.

I applaud Hillary in last night's (01/31/08) debate. She put on a good show. I still don't like her, I've made my reasoning for that very clear (to anyone who possibly gives a shit) but, like a lot of people around here, even I felt the "love" in the room last night. I think the Clintons are full of shit. BUT. To give the Republicans another victory in '08 would just be too much. So, what I'm trying to say is, I'm willing to give Hillary her fair shot. As long as they (Bill, Hillary) behave. No more tactics. No more "fairy tales". No more "Jesse Jackson". No more marginalizing Martin Luther King. No more bullshit that all of us see as bullshit, right away, every time.

Okay? So, I know I've been very vocal --obnoxious-- about Obama. But, I do want us to enjoy unity. Real unity. We don't have to agree on everything but, good God, as party faithful we are MILES above the alternative, even with Mike Gravel as the candidate.

Don't get me wrong, this is far from an "endorsement" of Hillary. I will still be posting articles and op/eds and my own stellar commentary about Obama.

And Teri, I'm sorry I've been so hard on you. I know I've been turbo-charged on a lot of your comments but, truth be told, take all the inner-party bullshit out of it and, believe it or not, we have the same ideals in the long run.

So, in conclusion:

First choice: Obama. All the way.

Next choice: Hillary. FUCK THE BASTARDS ON THE RIGHT WHO DON'T WANT HER TO HAVE IT.

Okay, for that I'm taking you off ignore.

I appreciate that Theta.

I was JUST ABOUT to have a little rant on this very subject as a matter of fact. I just saw a clip on Olbermann of Obama saying that if he were to win the nomination Hillary's voters would vote for him, but if she won, his voters might not vote for Hillary. WHAT THE FUCK? Really? He's saying his voters would vote for McCain OR ROMNEY, God forbid, to spite Hillary? They would be that small that they would virtually flush our country and our future down the crap hole cause a majority of democrats preferred Hillary?

Wow . . . Wow . . . Wow. I'm floored by this. How can he say something like that and not get hammered?

well...there have been some on this site that said they would vote for McCain if Hillary won the nomination(Eric) and I can't rule it out as a possibility.

Well, there's a lot of anti-Hillary sentiment out there.

Maybe they'll come around like I did.

I'll put up w/ her if they (we) put her up there.

The alternative is too fucked up the ass.

100 years in Iraq? REALLY? Has anyone been listening to McCain? I think some might say that in the heat of anger or passion, but I haven't taken it seriously. I mean, everyone has the right and obligation to vote their from their own hearts, but even Obama admits there's not that much difference between them on the issues.

Her performance [who says actors and politicians have little in common] in the last debate was all transparently phoney. Worse is her same old tired rhetoric for why she voted in favor of war on Iraq. All the notes and lyrics were identical to the past attempts at bullshitting us and fell utterly flat. Then there's teh fact her "healthcare" plan is a mirror image of Romney's which- as any Massachusetts resident wil freely tell you, was and remains a complete catastrophe.

No, she's not even a second choice to me even now. I'll sooner do a write-in than to sell out to that right wing apologist in donkey's clothing.

Something McCain clearly doesn't grasp is that Iraq IS NOT Korea or Japan. It's not even Bosnia or Serbia, and those places use to be as violent as anything in Iraq.

I should clarify, I don't think Hillary's policys are bad. She's a winner on most issues (but Iraq ain't one of them).

It's just that damn personality of hers -and the historical Clinton tactics- that annoy me.

But, fuck it.

I had a good run in the 90's.

LOL

Everytime I think I might move back to this point--which is where I started (Edwards--but any dem will do) Hillary or Bill does something I cannot live with!

Today I learned here about Bill's attack on Ted Kenneday. TOTALLY unacceptable in my book!

Tonight I learned that what Hillary said about Levin's ammendment which she DID NOT vote for was a lie.

I could go on.

So ---- I will cheer for you and your if bill and Hillary don'ts---but I think there is not a hope in hell Hillary and Bill will cut it out. They seem to have a very tenuous relationship with the truth.
