The current electoral college system could use some adjusting, but I don't see why the whole thing should be scrapped. The electoral college is not an oligarchy. They choose a candidate based on popular vote. Is it even legal for them to choose the candidate with fewer votes?

Maybe it just needs an 'update'. It's become outdated... antiquated... outrageousated... the flaws have been found, so now they simply need to be corrected.

Because we scrapped the electoral college for U.S. senators in order to improve the electoral process.

It's closer to that than it is to democracy.

Sort've. They can vote for whomever they choose, and only their conscience- or lack thereof, is their guide.

Yes, it is, and yes, there've been cases where a few did. It's never been shown to make a difference, but given how the right wing has politicized the most sacred cows of nonpolitical institutions I wouldn't want to leave that bomb laying around.

the way this would be set up wouldn't entirely scrap the electoral system, it would mean that the winner of the popular would receive the all the electoral votes...an overhaul, if you will

except it wasn't forgotten...two states have already signed this legislation into commitment, i've left messages in our governor's office for him to do the same (it's sitting on his desk right now)...this guy's been working on this for a few years now...not being reported is not the same as not forgotten

OK,for those of us who know that rich white guys DO NOT speak for us,

what is the list of things to do, please?

Let's just look at the list and begin to form an idea of which thing to do first.

I remember when I first learned about it and thought that it is stupid and old-fashioned and almost gone.

THEN, I learned that these fools still think that they speak for ME
and they DON'T
