Chalk Up Another Super Delegate For Obama!

This is just the beginning folks.

Quote:
JG-TC.com > Ap-state-il > Congressman Lipinski backs Obama for president

WASHINGTON - Congressman Dan Lipinski is backing U.S. Senator Barack Obama's presidential bid.

Lipinski had been one of the two remaining holdouts among Democratic superdelegates in Illinois' congressional delegation. He says he's endorsed Obama because of the candidate's emphasis on overcoming partisanship and uniting the country.

Lipinski's district in southwest Chicago and its southwest suburbs narrowly voted in favor of Obama over New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in Illinois' presidential primary last month.

Representative Rahm Emanuel of Chicago is a former White House aide to President Clinton and now the chairman of the House Democratic Conference, and he remains neutral in the presidential race.

The rest of the Democrats in the delegation support Obama.

Eric begs that we be fair here, and I think it is only fair that I point
out that Hillary has a new supporter today -- George McGovern, who
lost to Richard Nixon by a landslide in 1972. I doubt that McGovern
is a superdelegate since he has not held elected office since for
27 years. But he plays to Hillary's demographics since he will be 86 this year.

McGovern talks to people and has reached the conclusion that it will
be harder for a woman than a black to win the presidency. (It is
entirely possible that he cannot hear the people he is talking to --
being as to how new polls released today show that 70 or 71% of
the voting public would accept a woman president or a black president.)

And to be absolutely fair, I should add that McGovern seems to think
Obama should be left alone about Reverend Wright. McGovern says
he only agrees with 90% of what his pastor says, and praised
Rev. Wright's church.

No, but I can find it on the website.

I shouldn't have been mean about his age, because he was quite
rational when he discussed Reverend Wright.

I found the video of McGovern on Colbert, and now I feel bad. I don't understand why he is supporting Hillary -- I guess because he has known her for 35 years. He is not a superdelegate.

Don't feel bad.

But I got the distinct feeling from the way he talked about his endorsement that he gave his word a long time before he knew much about Obama, and while he can't rescind his support for Hillary, he's very impressed with Obama.

I got that feeling, too.

I meant to post link to video:
