What can our government do about gas prices?

Let's talk about an actual issue.

We all know that the oil companies get subsidies, that they've been making record profits, CEO's have been getting obscene retirement packages, and we're paying more at the pump.

Anyone here think our government can bring our prices down?

If they cut the subsidies, pump prices will go up.

If they allow more drilling, cost of drilling will reflect at the pump.

If they force the oil companies to spend on green research, price at the pump will go up.

How do they bring the price down?

Maybe they could find a way to turn the bullshit you and your ilk spew everyday into fuel?

Not really sure, I spend most of my time these days hating America and the troops.

not much they CAN do, except maybe a windfalls profit tax.

But Oil wll argue they're profit margins are normal in Industrials.

But at LEAST stop the subsidies !!

You started the same thread a few hours ago.

Obama's comment on gas prices

We need to open ANWR for drilling. Increasing the domestic supply would bring the price down.

We also need to open up the New England coast for more wind farms so that those limosine liberals power their homes from wind instead of oil, coal, and gas.

Stop the subsidies, and your price at the pump goes up, no?

What I find discouraging is so little response to threads about actual issues compared with the incredible response to the non-issue "gossip" threads.
