Obama Announces 3 Superdelegates - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times Blog

Obama Announces 3 Superdelegates

By Jeff Zeleny

From this point forward in the Democratic presidential nominating contest, the fight between Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton will be boiled down to a day-by-day accounting of superdelegates.

Today, in the wake of the North Carolina and Indiana primaries, the Obama campaign is announcing three new superdelegates: Jerry Meek, chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party, Jeanette Council, a member of the D.N.C. from North Carolina and Inola Henry, a member of the D.N.C. from California.

add george mc govern and that makes four today!

another super today - from clinton's camp, this time!

jennifer mc clellan, virginia, switches from clinton to obama!

(a switch equates to a swing of two!)

so, that's essentially, a pick up of 6 so far today!

yes. my bad!

obama picked up three NEW undecided delegates, and another one from virginia who switched from clinton to obama, AND george mc govern who ALSO switched.

so i guess if you count the two who switched from clinton to obama BOTH as essentially a two delegate movement (+1 for obama/ -1 for clinton = a two delegate swing x 2 = 4) and add the three new undecided commitments - that actually cuts into clinton's super delegate lead by a total of 7 today!

real clear politics hasn't taken any away from hillary yet, or added those defectors to obama - but they have added the three new commitments. and according to their tally, clinton now has an 11 point lead in super delegates.

when they take away the two defectors, and add those supers to obama, her super delegate lead should shrink to 7!
