Obama May Levy $15 Billion Tax on Oil Company Profit

This is a real solution. No pandering for a "summer vacation" that just shuffles money around with no real benefit. This is a proposal that any real American seeking fairness will fully support. Good for Obama!

Quote:
Bloomberg.com: News

May 1 (Bloomberg) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal for a windfall profits tax on oil companies could cost $15 billion a year at last year's profit levels, a campaign adviser said.

The plan would target profit from the biggest oil companies by taxing each barrel of oil costing more than $80, according to a fact sheet on the proposal. The tax would help pay for a $1,000 tax cut for working families, an expansion of the earned- income tax credit and assistance for people who can't afford their energy bills.

"The profits right now are so remarkable that one could trim them 10 percent or so, which would turn out to be somewhere in the $15 billion range,'' said Jason Grumet, an adviser to the Obama campaign.

LOL . Obama just asked for the same thing Hillary has been calling for :
except she is calling for a baseline on profits, above which the tax would kick in

seriously, it is a good idea, but not something that can be done by Executive order,
like the gas tax holiday.

hmm. Obama is calling for taxing on consumption?
or raw materials tax?

That is a bit different than a tax on the windfalls profits.

What, you don't have enough of your own anti Obama threads? I post a positive thread and you come in here with your Republican spewing bullshit once again. Sorry man but you have turned into a right wing sheep.

now we're supposed to pick thread posting by sides?
That definately limits me with the zillions of anti-Hillary threads

I made truthful comments, sure they are from my advocate p.o.v.
It wasn't "bashing" Obama, like others bash Hillary here.
I make few anti-Obama posts per se.

I just try to provide some balance.

sorry if i crashed the party

You provide bias at every single turn, hardly balance. I do as well but I stay out of most of the pro Hillary threads when they are stating her policy, her SD count, etc. I even start a positive thread about her every now and again. But your mission is purely anti Obama and you can care less what a post is about you act like a robot on auto pilot.

I try to be truthful in my posts. My passion for Hillary is as strong as ur's is for Obama
Naturally i am gonna advocate for Hillary.
I will critize Obama, and say he is not as electable, but i do it with some basis of facts behind my statements -
or at least quote Hillary campaign points.
I don't bash simply to bash, I will try to comabt some of the Obama bias here.
Have you read the Hillary bashing? the name calling?
The sheer amount of hatred thrown at her?

Is there really a need for me to start pro-Obama threads?
don't we have plenty of those?
Have I always sai I will support Obama in the General.
do those on the Obama side say the same? do you?

I'm prolly the last Hilllary supporter you have left that posts here regurally.
If you want an echo chamber, then i'll leave

I'll ask you to mark threads then where you want only 1 side to post.
Really dude - what did I say here that you find so offensive?

Not offensive as much as bias and redundant. And yes, I can say that as a person here who has at least complimented Hillary here a few times. Can you say you've ever given Obama any credit for anything? How about a congrats every now and then to show a little tact for a change. You may want to give it a try, last time I posted a congratulations thread for Hillary I felt pretty darn good about it even though I totally hate her guts.

It's a campaign. you got tons of pro-Obama threads. Do you really need me to start more?
I start very few threads, and the one's I did on Wright were timely, the day new devolpments came out on that sad saga.

redundant? I see the same old same old anti-Hillary talking points, and the same old despicable name calling on me and her.
I don't complain. I don't run to you saying I've been insulted by other members.
I hit back at what they say, not what I am called personally.

I try not to get personal in my responses, I may use sarcasm, but I don't hurl insults.
It's not my place - especially since I am the last of the Mohicans who post pro Hillary stuff here- to praise Obama.
You got tons of those threads.
I try to provide a counter take, at least so it's not an echo chamber here.

So yes, I am pro-Hillary, and yes I'm gonna attack Obama on policy.
But I don't attack the man.
can you say the same for others here?

Down boy, Cosmic is just a butthurt babyboomer who still wants people from his/her generation to be in control even though everything they've done has ended in total failure when all the chips are counted.

But enough of that, let's try and separate the attacks and positive stories, I know it'll be hard, but it makes everyone happy if they are apart.
