That's not what I address.

I address the fact that his alternative is no alternative in the short run. He continues the myth that once he changes the way Washington does business, then he can do something about gas prices.

The TRUTH is that none of them can do anything about gas prices. Our government, to my knowledge, has not the power to tell Exxon what it can charge for a gallon of gas.

Both dem candidates want to work toward higher CAFE standards, which will cut gas consumption YEARS DOWN THE ROAD.

The REAL TRUTH is that the only way to keep gas prices from going up, and maybe get them to go down, is to cut demand, and that's up to us, the people.

ALL OF THESE CANDIDATES are pandering to us when they tell us they will do something to lower the price of gas. Short of finding illegal activities by the oil companies, they can't do any such thing.

Go to the 5 minute away movie theater instead of the hour plus away shore. Walk into the bank or fast food.

This is the 4th rail of American politics; asking the public to help themselves.

I really don't intend to get any of you upset, but I'd really like to know HOW:

Obama changes the way the Congress operates?

The government can set gas prices?
My reading comprhension skills are just fine Tweetie Bird. You aked the question "What are they going to do about gas prices?" as a for instance and I responded to a short term solution advocated by Clinton and McCain. Most of us don't need you to tell us to conserve, I happen to know two other members of this board who do so religiously but they don't discuss their private lives out in the open. For my part, I don't even onw a car, never have and I've managed just fine. Again, I read your posts and fail to see a point to any of them other than some half baked notion of consensus being put forth when most of the people here and in the general public conserve on everything out of sheer economic necessity. I don't pretend for a moment that Obama will be able to force Big Oil to change its price gouging ways but "we the people" should let the media and all the candidates know that eliminating the huge tax breaks for Exxon et al would be a step in the right direction. Nope, my fine , feathered friend, methinks you've got cards you ain't showing aka a hidden agenda all your own.

Did he advocate the "gas tax"? I "get" you wish to pull a rabbit out of your hat as a means to insult, rather than addressing the issues raised. And barring that, you could ignore posts that confuse you. Or make more witty remarks about a sixty year old woman's body.

And paranoia continues to run deep. Is it possible to question Mr. Obama without this "hidden agenda" accusation crawling out of its empty can? What do you suppose the "hidden agenda" might be?

Let me spell it out for ya Windbag, the "gas tax" was a solution offered by the candidates. I never said JDanton thought it was a good idea. Secondly, free speech guarantees me the right to poke as much fun of Hillary's thighs as it does Rush Limbaugh's three chins. My suspicions of Danton have nothing to do with any agenda of mine, I am not an "Obamnaiac", just leaning his way since the other two have thus far proven themselves so unfit for office. I'll post and say what I please, if Danton gets to do so I have the same right. Go pick a fight elsewhere, you bore me.

True!!
However, your grandfather's depression wasn't engineered and didn't exist while the American branch of the Billionaire Boy's club was gaining record membership.

I also demand that our quality of life should be going upwards these past 75+ years.
