West Virginia Poll, Rasmussen

Monday, May 05, 2008

When the voting is finished in Indiana and North Carolina, the Democratic Primary competition will move to West Virginia on May 13. That’s a competition Hillary Clinton will be looking forward to with eager anticipation. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the race shows that Clinton attracts 56% of the Likely Democratic Primary Voters while Obama is supported by 27%. Seventeen percent (17%) are not sure.
Those results are virtually identical to an earlier election poll conducted in mid-March.
Clinton is viewed favorably by 72% of West Virginia’s Primary Voters, Obama by 48%. Clinton’s numbers are unchanged while Obama’s ratings have dropped five percentage points.
Clinton will need a big victory in West Virginia to help bolster her talking point about winning the most popular votes. While Obama supporters dismiss this talking point as meaningless, it will be repeated many times in the coming weeks and months. Still, the former First Lady has but one path to the nomination—stay close and hope that Obama makes a mistake.
In West Virginia, 72% say they’re at least somewhat likely to vote for Clinton over McCain in the general election. However, only 56% say they’re somewhat or very likely to vote for Obama.
Seventy-eight percent (78%) have followed recent news stories about Obama’s former Pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Fifty-seven percent (57%) say it’s likely that Obama shares some of Wright’s controversial views. Those figures are similar to the national averagefor all voters, not Democrats.
Nationally, the race between Obama and Clinton remains close in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

The Rev. Wright thing is the worst thing ever. All it goes to prove is how delusional Americans are. When someone tells the truth, Americans become hostile and choose denial over acceptance. God would not bless the murder of millions or 400 years of enslavement and oppression.

I guess it is skilled timing on Clinton's part though, since everyone is in nazi-nationalism mode. Why do people love candidates who patronize and manipulate them?

To what end does this bullshit serve? The primary process is over. Hillary's campaign is as good as dead.

This is non-issue and not even news anymore.

That is such a WEAK bullshit argument---Did Hillary complain when Bill received the nomination in April? Did she announce that her husband was "disenfranchising" the voters then?

And what EXACTLY is Hillary suggesting the superdelegates do when she asks them to select her as their nominee despite the fact that she has lost:

Popular vote
Pledged delegates totals
States
More Primary's
More Caucuses

She is saying disenfranchise all the voters who voted for Obama in 31 contests because I have won 2 that I think are important and 2 that I had agreed would not count in the first place.

She has LITERALLY boiled her agrument down to ignore the voters because I won Pennslyvannia and Ohio. (and those she won with the most distasteful and lowlife behavior ever seen in a democratic primary).

What would you call that?

I have beginning to have a difficult time deciding who is more dishonest and hypocritical---Hillary or her supporters!

Well....they still have the right to vote.....even if Hillary was to drop out today, the primary elections would still be held.

It told all decent America's something critical about Hillary's character though.

When asked if Hillary thought that all 8000 worshipers at Wrights church should have left---Hillary did not give the ONLY answer someone seeking to defend a CORE principle of the United States of America!

The ONLY right answer for a potential president was:

"NO! IN the United States of America we worship the God of our choice in the Church of our choice! I would not EVER presume to tell others to leave their church because I don't agree with the pastor!" She could have added, "I however would not have stayed!"

She did not even TRY to defend this American principle!

How many Americans do you think are going to overlook THAT when the repukes begin to make adds showing her doing it?

kentucky is a non-issue - the gop will win that state (for the same pathetic reasons hillary is)
she could win it 89% to 11% and it wouldn't mean a damn thing in either the primaries now, OR THE GENERAL ELECTION!

everyone seems to realize THAT except hillary and her supporters.

hillary supporters can't seem to get it through their heads that SHE has completely alienated the ONLY voting block democrats CAN'T WIN WITHOUT! nor can they get it through their heads how many NEW voters obama brings to the party. nor can they get it through their heads that hillary's negatives are much higher than obama's, or that 63% of the american people feel the woman can't be trusted! or that obama isn't really different in policy.

all they "see" is an overwhelming fear that america isn't ready to elect a black man. period. it's kinda sad. no, not "kinda" sad - it's VERY SAD!

obama doesn't win with the OLD political map.
he draws a NEW one.
it's a post-racial map.
it's a post politics of division map.

RIGHT NOW, not only does obama win states hillary can't possibly win - taking several traditionally GOP states AWAY from the republicans - but he also, with the POSSIBLE exception of MAYBE a couple, he wins every state she would win, too.

as the party unifies around him, especially if this is done early enough, he would win even those states.

but hillary supporters just don't get ANY of these things.
