No. Alternatives to Biblical marriage can be covered with contracts between two people. The state recognizes contracts between adults.

I love all these different discussions.

I've waited for the decision and always thought it would be based on the freedom of religion, but they may mention it in the the written decision.

Well now that is an interesting new twist for me. I've never heard that before: 'based on freedom of religion.'

Yet that could apply to ANY behavior or actions. I might want it as public policy 'because of my religion' that I want to marry my tree. I mean the permutations are endless.

Arnold wants Boxer's Senate seat.

Bush is on the same page as McCain, Clinton and Obama. Except the two Dems support the (what should be insulting to gays) civil unions.

Gays are striving for something that goes against a fundamental principle of Christian religion, which is also codified within societal policy. Basically what they are requesting is for US to give up our religious principle on this matter. That is impossible.

The gay marriage issue has nothing to do with us being created equal. Clearly gays are EQUAL, but homosexuality is clearly against the laws of the Christian, Judaic and Islamic religions. I understand that those who reject God and religion want the freedom to make up their own laws, but you simply so not have the votes. And this is not an area of 'interpretation' in the Bible as perceived 'racial' differences are.

Mercy Anhailla. Calling our Biblical passages 'garbage' is pretty provocative. Louis Farrakhan does that to Judaism. It is not respectful to do that. I and all of the presidential candidates and most of America base our lives on this 'garbage.'
