On Aug. 25, when the DNC's rules panel declared Florida's primary date out of order, it agreed by a near-unanimous majority to exceed the 50 percent penalty called for under party rules. Instead, the group stripped Florida of all 210 delegates to underscore its displeasure with Florida's defiance and to discourage other states from following suit. In doing so, the DNC essentially committed itself, for fairness' sake, to strip the similarly defiant Michigan of all 156 of its delegates three months later. Clinton held tremendous potential leverage over this decision, and not only because she was then widely judged the likely nominee. Of the committee's 30 members, 12 were Clinton supporters. All of them—most notably strategist Harold Ickes—voted for Florida's full disenfranchisement. (The only dissenting vote was cast by a Tallahassee, Fla., city commissioner who supported Obama.)

He kept insisting that they were going to move up Michigan on their own, even though if they did that, they would lose half their delegates. By that point Carl and I were leaning toward each other over a table in the middle of the room, shouting and dropping the occasional expletive.

"You won't deny us seats at the convention," he said.

"Carl, take it to the bank," I said. "They will not get a credential. The closest they'll get to Boston will be watching it on television. I will not let you break this entire nominating process for one state. The rules are the rules. If you want to call my bluff, Carl, you go ahead and do it."

We glared at each other some more, but there was nothing much left to say. I was holding all the cards and Levin knew it.

it was fine with her, when she was so sure she'd be anointed!
the change in attitude happened they day she realized her nomination was no longer a sure thing!

Hillary doesn't care if either state gets seated. Watch her prepose a new nominating process wherein no primary vote is held at all, rather it's all decided by backroom deals.

i had to chuckle about her reference to zimbabwe, where she said the loser somehow won! (well, maybe chuckle isn't the right word, here.) and wondered how that analogy works for her...

because she's the loser who's trying to steal the nomination by changing the primary rules.

i wish i could find that part of her speech on youtube - because the people seated behind her had the funniest looks on their faces! ...like they just smelled a big fart.

and don't ya love how she thinks she can claim michigan votes in the popular vote lead she's claiming, when EVERYONE and their pet dog knows she was the ONLY candidate on the ballot?

i mean, talk about third world style crooked elections!
i don't think her arguments are going over too well.
and i'm hearing more and more of a backlash from women against her "sexist" claims, too.

i'm a woman, and i'm completely repulsed by that claim.
a lot of women are totally embarrassed by the campaign she's run - and our criticisms AREN'T based on her gender...
they're based on the fact that she ran a miserable, nasty, inept, disgusting, horrible campaign.

When she was playing Bittergate for all it was worth, she inferred that Dukasis, Gore, and Kerry had lost because of the "elitist" factor. Obama said that he thought Gore won.

Now she has decided that Gore did win, and is all over the HBO movie about the 2000 election that will debut Sunday. Yesterday Kevin Spacey was promoting the movie on some show and agreed with Hillary's claim that every vote must be counted.

It's all just so much bullshit I can barely even stand it. Blah-blah-blah about voter disenfranchisement, and at the same time, out the other side of her mouth, comes the "I've won the popular vote" drivel, that is patently false, unless you do not count results from four caucus states.

Disenfranchisement is a good thing, if it furthers Clinton's personal ambitions.
