These people are going to be upset when they find out that foreign policy won't change under Obama. US Presidents do not make their own foreign policy.

I should add that those US Presidents who attempt to do so are JFK'd (he was against escalation in Vietnam), or if they are lucky, Nixoned (he was making too much progress in ending the Cold War).

While I would agree that Presidents don't make foreign policy, the idea that JFK opposed escalation in Vietnam is pure oliver Stone bullshit. He increased the number of our troops there, made numerous attempts to assasinate Fidel Castro and interfered more in Cental American affairs than even Eisenhower did. Kennedy was actually advised (falsely of course) that the majority of South Vietnam's population was Roman Catholic when in fact most Vietnamese were Bushists. As far as Nixon goes, he got driven out of office for violating and threatening Constitutional law. He's the idol of all the Bushies, especially Cheney. Your comic book view of history is understandable, given your agreement with True Blue's "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" bullshit on the other thread.

Yes, of course, the people decide foreign policy. They're just too damn dumb to do anything. If everyone on the highway started going 100mph over the speed-limit, cops could do nothing. People are really stupid... they have no idea what kind of power they actually have. Must be some kind of latent God-complex. They fear 'authority'.
