Just a reminder...

...of the mindset of which we are attempting to relieve ourselves:

Getting lost in the media furor over McClellan's memoir is the new autobiography of retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez, the onetime commander of U.S. troops in Iraq, who is scathing in his assessment that the Bush administration "led America into a strategic blunder of historic proportions."

Among the anecdotes in "Wiser in Battle: A Soldier's Story" is an arresting portrait of Bush after four contractors were killed in Fallujah in 2004, triggering a fierce U.S. response that was reportedly egged on by the president.

During a videoconference with his national security team and generals, Sanchez writes, Bush launched into what he described as a "confused" pep talk:

"Kick ass!" he quotes the president as saying. "If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can't send that message. It's an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal."

"There is a series of moments and this is one of them. Our will is being tested, but we are resolute. We have a better way. Stay strong! Stay the course! Kill them! Be confident! Prevail! We are going to wipe them out! We are not blinking!"

A White House spokesman had no comment.

And for one more:

"And so the fact that they purchased the machine meant somebody had to make the machine. And when somebody makes a machine, it means there's jobs at the machine-making place."

-- President Bush, at Silverado Cable Co. in Mesa, Ariz., on May 27.

Cmon. did Bush really utter such inflaming inanities?.

That;s pathetic, something i wouldn't even expect to hear from a
first sargeant in combat - when it's time to rally the troops.

Bush is a dangerous dunderhead.

The passage was from a book by now retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo S.
Sanchez, wherein he quotes Mr. Bush saying just those inanities.

There are, I suspect, many more where that come from.

Keep in mind we're talking about a guy who said "Awesome Speech" to the pope. Saying stupid things is his trademark.

More proof cheerleaders should never become Presidents.

I do hope that all those fools that voted for bush are happy with their $4/gal gasoline. All those people that thought two men marrying in Massachusetts was more improtant than the lives of their neighbors and family. All those struggling families losing their homes and suffering under increasing inflation and lessening earnings that voted for bush are happy that corporations are never stronger and making great profit exporting their jobs. That the 1% who own 65 % of this country now own 70%.* That their children and grandchildren will pay for this man's inneptness and criminality that has allowed the treasury to be looted by war profiteers and con men.

Inanities from Bush's mouth? Holy shit, that's just about as unusual as finding mosquitoes in a marsh.

True, but the larger point was that with Mr. McCain we are faced
with more of the same mindset illustrated by this quote if not the same
level of discourse. That is what matters, more than Mr. Bush's inanities.
I admit I did just throw that last one in for its sheer entertainment
value, however.
