Spiro Agnew was my County executive before he made Governor.

He used to come driving up our gravel road, that had about a dozen families on it come electioin time.

His driver would open up his door, and he'd pop out in a suit and tie, while the residents all gathered around in overall, and jeans.

" We're gonna have to get that road paved for you soon !
Too many people up here now to have to put up with those gulleys"

and other assorted horseshit he'd promise.
The residents would just stand there politely, but they all knew he was a liar, only courting for votes.

Found out he got convicted on kickbacks from road contracts later on.

Congressman Sarbanes was jst the opposite.
we lived in the city, before we moved to Baltimore county.
Baltimore row houses.

I rememeber, lord i was just a little kid - we all would sit outside on the " stoops" ( steps) after dinner.
And Paul came along workingtheneighborhood for votes.

He stopped and sat on our porch furniture, because my parents were block captain for the Dem. Party.

VERY nice man. You could see his face as only a child can, and see his was genuilly a warm and caring person.

Yeah. Sarbanes was a good senator and is a good man. He represented Maryland very well. I should be on Catalina Island right now though.

Black folks sit on the porch after dinner as air conditioning during hot summer months. Baltimore rowhouse whites too. Baltimore is very blue collar.

I'm not sure about that. Most of the Greek-Americans that I know are very conservative.
