rendell: hillary bad VP choice rangel: no reason NOT to concede!
Rendell Tells Clinton: Don't Try To Bargain For Vice Presidential Spot
One of Hillary Clinton's biggest supporters, Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania, gave an interview to the television station New York 1, in which he warned Clinton against bargaining for the vice presidential spot: Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell - one of Hillary Clinton's strongest supporters - today warned her: "There's no bargaining. You don't bargain with the Presidential nominee. Even if you're Hillary Clinton and you have 18 million votes, you don't bargain." In an exclusive interview with NY1 Political Anchor Dominic Carter, Rendell added that Obama would have to be an "enormously big person" to pick Clinton as his running mate and that Clinton sometimes "couldn't help but upstage" Obama on a joint ticket. Rendell also said former President Bill Clinton could greatly complicate things if his wife was the Vice Presidential nominee. Another strong Clinton supporter, Rep. Charles Rangel of New York, is urging to Clinton to publicly clarify how she plans to move forward because she has put her supporters in an awkward position: One of Hillary Clinton's most loyal backers on Capitol Hill is voicing frustration about the position she has put her supporters in. In an interview with ABC News, Rep. Charles Rangel said he thinks it is time for Clinton to publicly clarify what she is doing and allow her supporters to switch their allegiance to Barack Obama. "Unless she has some good reasons-- which I can't think of-- I really think we ought to get on with endorsements (of Obama) and dealing with what we have to deal with... so we can move forward," Rangel said.

By the way....theman is insane if he thinks Clinton's supporters are just going to switch over to Obama.
Sorry....but not without Clinton. Obama can just forget about that. |

Democratic presidency? I have excoriated those few Obama supporters who declared they would prefer to see McCain elected than vote for a candidate not their first choice, and Clinton supporters should not, in my opinion, follow that same petty course. Ms. Clinton may be vetted by the Obama campaign, but she will not be his choice for vice president. There is more at stake here than personal squabbles or personal disappointment. Do you not agree? |

I've been burned twice this season. Once when Chris Dodd, who I thought was the best person for the job, dropped out, and then John Edwards dropped out. I said at the time in several posts at that point, that given the remaining field, my next favorite choice was Obama, but that , because of the BIG PICTURE, I would support whomever got the Dem nod.

Another thing that stopped Hillary from wanting the VP spot is the non-negotiable condition by Obama that Bill Clinton's presidential library donors be disclosed publically.
They wouldn't do it.

although she is now suggesting that she and bill shouldn't need to be fully vetted! because, you know, they've already been.
sort of. if you don't count bill's business dealings, or all his saudi, etc, library donors... that is.

It's funny, I've been vetted every time I've ever changed jobs. Maybe I should use their logic and say, "Well, I was vetted 16 years ago. Doesn't that still count?
