I'm sure I'm going over the line here, but it all boils down to race and religion. These posters on the forum Serum refers to, don't like Obama because of his skin color and they think he's a Muslim..a fanatical one at that! They're no better than blogging skinheads.

That's how you can tell a true dem from a demrepug..a real democrat truly cares about the democratic party.

Yep.......... IMO those idiots are lost already anywayZ & not worth bothering w/.......... If honest john doesn't turn their stomaches they can pump out their chests in pride that they voted for the whitest guy...

What I find hope in is the dumb, simplistic nature of such arguments... Most sheepl are capable of @ least some reason...... Hey & perhaps some will bump their heads & get some sense knocked into them...

Maybe it is just me but saying things like the man is a Muslim while condemning him for attending a wacky Christian church for 20 years is just nuts...... But hey I could be just being optimistic here....... Not something I am often accused of........lol

Yes!! You are correct. But........only about 10% or less of all voters are political junkies! The rest are people who are effected by the chatter.

We have to make sure that inside the chatter there are FACTS and rational thoughts, arguments that provide cover/strength for the positions of those who are the "dissenting" views in their communities.

Most people read their local papers more than national papers and they tend to trust them more so it is important to work through them.

AND---there are a LOT of voters out there (seems like more men than women to me) who want and NEED to EXCHANGE thoughts with others to make up their minds.

The work is cut out for us!

American citizens are empowered. That's the difference.

A true democracy was never the intention, btw. John Adams was very specifically against it, fearing the mob/townhall mentality would freeze the government's ability to do anything at all. That's why we have a representative government. The trick is to keep the representation as reflective of the citizens and not special interests.

Ban parties, limit campaign finance, alter advertisement rules, and get the 53% of eligible voters who don't vote involved and you might just get the government you wish for.

Until then, let the corporations give you your 'two' choices.
