I just noticed your location...NYS - Devil's country. Made me laugh because of our conversation the other day.

At first glance, one would agree with your points. But let's take a closer look....

In a prosperous and flourishing, growing economy, debt will get paid off a lot sooner than it would if we were taxed (an increase) to pay it off. Why? Because those of us who do pay taxes will start engaging in tax avoidance. Normal folks like me cut back on spending, saving and investing, rich folks figure just out ways to avoid paying the tax. And believe me, they will succeed. The tax code has too many loopholes that benefit them. Or they will send their money offshore where it is tax-free. Sending more tax money to Washington via payroll tax, because we have the maximum amt. of people working possible, is a much more efficient way of paying down debt than increasing the tax burden on people with jobs.

To answer your point(s) about businesses, remember something very important, because this is key. Business doesn't pay tax. Consumers pay tax. Whatever taxing burden we assign to business is merely transferred to whomever is buying their product or service. When we attempt to "punish" businesses via increased taxation, we are infact punishing ourselves.

Defense spending. It would be very foolish not to spend adequately on defense in this global climate. We've got to stay ahead of our enemies who are investing heavily in new weapons technology. However, I am all for ending the war and the humongus expense to keep it going. That would help our budget tremendously.

Isn't that rather unpatriotic to avoid taxes? Almost treasonous. Where does the government gain the majority of revenue? Taxes? Tariffs? Fees? This is important because free trade isn't free for eveyone.

Unless you're big oil making 40 billion in one quarter after taxes and still getting 5 billion in tax "relief". sorry that was ONE company making 40 Billion a year. since 4000 have died so they could make that money, that profit, 20 Billion back wouldn't really hurt them would it?

We spend more than the next eleven nations COMBINED. Stop and think about that. the next eleven nations, China Russia, France, UK, plus seven more and we spend more than all of them combined. We have the only blue water navy left in the world. Now, an example. CACI, that wonderful company that "interrogated" the prisoners at Abu Grahb, The CEO of that company made over $22 million from government contracts in 2004. Not the company, the CEO made 22 million! How much body armor could that buy?

Regarding off shore tax havens:

Corps can use them, individuals cannot.

Plus, "Income inequality is at its greatest level since 1928."

Black_Knight is going down hill
Connies seem to forget Hagel is the Right's version of Lieberman, expect no Jewiness. So why bother with a conservative who's against the war, but will stonewall all the other plans Obama has?

I suggest that everyone watch Iraq For Sale: the War Profiteers.

I think it will answer a lot of questions and shows ezxactly what is wrong with this nation's government, Democrat or Republican. But at the moment it is the Republicans who are the biggest pigs at the trough!

Why is it always the Democrat that has to show bipartisanisum. The Republicans had all the toys for so many years, tell me, how did they share?

The only thing the Bush administration ever gave to the left was the middle finger, in every way shape and form. Republicans have run amuck in this country because they knew they were in charge, now that they've fucked things up and America is going to put the Dems back in charge to FIX it again, now they want to share.
