He's an major league asshole...there is no doubt after that "joke"

the only reason some democrats ever liked him was because he went against Bush/the repubs on some major things, and I think he is a friend of Kerry's.

But now of course, he supports every slimy crappy thing Bush has done.

Mike Barnacle, not ordinarily a Republi-con stooge, failed to mention the
"joke" when he hosted Hardball today, but did manage to praise a
McCain ad touting his tenure as a POW. You did know McCain
was a POW, did you not? He must have kept the North Vietnamese
in stitches.

Geezus...no doubt.

Do you think they give him a pass on malacious statements like that because he was a POW? I can't figure it out...he's a major league sell-out flip flopper, he's a creepy chavunist and has a infamous temper (according to many of his republican collegues alone)

He was shot down...he was tortured...it's horrible, I think we all understand that.

But the press better wise up and knock it off because it gives him no right to be another war-mongering miserable President.
Meanwhile they pick apart Clinton and Obama if they turn their heads the wrong way...and quite frankly they didn't do enough to stop the malacious swiftboating of Kerry...if I remember correctly Kerry was a War Hero too.

I suspect that is a part of it, although I really have no idea. He is supposedly
chummy with the press, which, if that is the reason for their kid gloves,
makes them useless manipulated star-struck fools, hardly the hardened
cynical newsdogs of yore.
Recall the McCain campaign recently either canceled or postponed to avoid
controversy a fund-raising affair at the home of another aficionado of
rape humor, Clayton Williams, whose contribution to the lexicon of violence-
against-women jokes compared rape to bad weather, "If it's inevitable, just
lie back and enjoy it".
He lost the Texas governor's race partly because of that quip.
