Obama finally inching back into the lead Obama 47 (+1), McCain 45 (-2)

For the first time in a couple of weeks. I also think that the Palin fever is breaking and that they will continue to slip the more she opens her mouth.

Obama keeps inching up in Va too - new poll shows him ahead.
If he wins that, it's ballgame baby.

I keep hearing that today and I don't really follow the state by state thing much but I am guessing it's typically a red state eh?

Since the mid sixties. I think Johnson in 64 was the last Dem they voted for.

yeah, for president anyway...they have had a couple of democratic governors since then though....

the following link is pretty cool, it's an atlas of presidential elections back to the 1700s, though individual state results for presidential elections start around 1824:

Giant generic national polls like this are less than useless, except that they give political junkies and MSM talking heads something to bloviate about.

State, and more importantly targeted district polls are important in that they allow campaigns to zoom in on potential gains or losses and plan their strategies.

So thanks for the little feel-good bump. But when all is said and done, I'd rather have a Guinness.

'tis my pleasure...i found it several months ago when the pundits were talking endlessly about how "you can't win without such and such state" and i just wanted to verify what they were yammering about...had it bookmarked ever since...it has a ton of great historical data and information, and i love the interactive features

It has been historically, but the last 2 Governors ( i think) have been Dems.
And you know about Sen. Webb.
He put together a coalition that won.

The Demographicare changeing.
The northern part of the statebordering Maryland and DC is very liberal/blue where the populaton is growing.
