Northern California...bitch slapped by storm!

Holy crap! Power just came back on. Our 30 ft Red Wood tree in the front shed a good deal of branches that our neighbor pulled off the road. The Tree in the back lost a few as well but for the most part....I'm gonna be cleaning up this mess for days. But I have to wait for the water to drain as the back yard is slightly flooded and muddy and the front street is not draining either.

I would snap a pic but Jeff took the camera up to the Sierra on a work trip. His vehicle got hit by flying debris. Hurricane like winds 80 mph with blizzard conditions in the mountains.

What the hell happened to sunny California?

Fence is broken, found more branches from the tree in the front.....but in the back yard. We forgot that we had two pool blow up rafts in the backyard....we still have one. The other is in Navada by now.

Sounds like a heck of a day.

We've been through a tropical storm and a Catagory 1 down here in Florida. They're not a whole lot of fun.

I did think, even in your northern California, weather was supposed to be much more reasonable.

If they start flashing tornadoes in Los Angeles ....

Stay safe and warm and dry. And, be careful during the clean-up. A lot of people get hurt doing clean up--branches, and power lines, and stuff...

A rainbow for you:

I take it after The Dragon is done kicking Cailfornia's ass we can expect to roll on us tomorrow or the middle of the night.

If you get it where you live.......look for your rake. This was the worst wind we've seen in at least twenty years. I was lucky and most of my stuff seems to have done no damage, but came close to hitting a Lexus. That neighbor was nice enough to pile a bunch into the pickup bin and when they got there they stayed long enough to let him load in a big pile he made of the biggest branches. They said they'd stay longer but it would take a while and it wasn't his mess. So I racked up what was left and picked up and shoved into my bin and my neighbors bin everything that would fit filling both. My yard still has several large branches but that has to wait till tomorrow to trim them down. Good choice buying a branch trimmer this past spring.

I am hearing that no one was hurt. So that's one good thing. There have been some pretty bad flooding and a tree fell on a church in Sacramento. Gonna be a big clean up out here. No levee problems and the next round in the system is mostly just cold air. I have plenty of firewood....depending on what day it is and whether they will allow me to burn it.

We are getting a piece of that same storm up in Oregon, lots of trees down and tons of rain. I can't imagine how massive it must be to stretch nearly 1000 miles.

We've alread seen the wind whip up a hell of a mess. So much so people on the freeways were dodging debris.

lol.............. I have a huge (15 1/2 ft circumference) valley oak in the back..... Not much mess this time & no window makers in several years..... But in my front I have several redwoods & I was shocked @ all the limbs covering my yard........ I like the redwoods but they don't blow nextdoor like my oak leaves in the back....

Damn little needles get stuck in the grass till you rake or mow it.......lol

I noticed a neighbor in the back cutting down a huge tree right in the worse part of the storm (wind & cloud burst around 2-3pm)... I guess they were afraid it would fall on the house..........

Nice & quite now & the rest of the storms coming in are supposedly smaller.........

Storms are amazing things. My little brother rode out Hurricane Andrew in South Miami. He was lucky--his big huge tree fell across the lawn rather than taking down the roof. Taking the tree down prior to Andrew wasn't even a thought. It was one of those massive 100 year old things.

They lost half the roof. They played the run around the house and try to hide game and ended up in the hallway. I guess it was hard to tell in all that noise and chaos and blackness which part of the roof they were losing. Thank God the tree fell on the lawn.

The two cars in the driveway? Untouched. Not a scratch on them.
