I don't think you could have lab people show compassion and still be able to function in that sort of work. Hate to make a comparison, but that emotional disconnect is what you'd otherwise see in serial killers.

You got that last part right. I live in the same place Ted Bundy lived all his lif. We breed serial killers in this State I swear! Now you see why, they work in places like that. Animal abuse is the first step.

My point is- in the case where the research on animals is necessary [not withstanding the scenario in the article], the researchers would have to be detatched both for their own emitional health and for the sake of their research. Now that doesn't justify carelessness or lack of reliable procedures, but I'm just explaining their thinking.

That's the problem is that the people are detatched and that is where the abuse comes into play. When you work with primates especially. to not feel any compassion even when doing these experiments has to be done with so amount of compassion. My ex-boyfirned works in a research center, not with primates and he has compassion for these animals and it makes them eaisier to work with as well. The way they are kept in those tiny cages has to effect to results of some of the experiments, especially with pschyiactric and depression medications.

I'm not watching/reading that. I would however not mind boiling whomever is responsible. Like Vick; I'd like to let a bunch of trained fighting pit-bulls in his fucking cell! When it comes to these types of violent and sadistic crimes, "an eye for an eye" mother-fucker!

It didn't show the monkey being killed, but the horrible conditions they live in. I just want to take Ivan the gorillas old home and turn it into a santurary rescuing as many as possible. His home had steam heated floor, waterfall, outside concrete area that could be turned into an outdoor real habitiat. The facitilty is there and being used as storage.
