So... does this mean the MI will get warmer? I was gonna go biking today, but the trails are covered with several inches of ice. Can we build a few thousand coal fired power plants by next weekend to make it go away? I'm sick of being stuck in the house

If you can get above 150 bpm,
you can get a sledgehammer, like I do, and break up the ice.
EXHILRATING!!

HomeDepot, dahling.
Not expensive and you only buy it once.

I recommend the round-handled poly-blend not wood

Michigan should get warmer, higher latitudes will warm more than lower ones. Bonus feature is winter should also warm more than summer. Mid-west and central US could get a lot drier though, not good.

Outlook is not great for many new coal plants in the US, banks are baulking at financing them, states are reluctant to authorize them. China however is trying hard to help you out though.

Yeah...just like the Iraq occupation where polls now show most Americans no longer pay much attention and aren't even sure the death tolls.

Sadly, disasters like Iraq and even it's detrimental impacts to the USA can over time be rectified, but it's questionable whether we get second-chances when dealing with nature and the environment...

QUOTE=Titanium Cat;147572 Climate change is a more accurate description because it includes changes in precipitation and severe weather both of which could be more significant than the temperature increase.
Climate change and climate warming are part of the same scenario, but since all sorts of weather issues might be created by the warming of Earth, climate change is all-encompassing in it's definition.

It's ironic because Frank Luntz was one of the lead Republican strategists who started coining the term not because it was more accurate but because it sounded less frightening and ominous than global warming did. It was part of a strategy to downplay the issue and delay any meaningful legislation to combat it.
As far as I know, going back a few years, most scientists refer to climate changes with climate warming being a subset of climate changes. And the UN has always used climate changes when speaking on a world stage.

Climate models that I have seen show both warming and cooling in specific areas. Yes global warming as an average temperature of the Earth is increasing, but depending on what happens with ocean currents and atmospheric changes there may be much colder regions in the future. Cyclonic storms will be intensified meaning these areas will become much wetter.

It is completely predictable that cyclonic storms around the world will intensify, bringing higher and more damaging winds, and major flooding.

I don't know TC...watch the movie; The Day After Tomorrow in which they deal with the changing of the salinity of the oceans, which in turn alters ocean currents, which in turn stops bringing warmer waters to Greenland/Iceland areas, which then brings on an arctic freeze. I know it's just a movie, but the scenario is roughly based on scientific models...
