What you ignored is the statement I made about the oil and car companies fighting tooth, nail and prison shank against it.

They'll want a hybrid truck that can haul all the same loads they did or didn't load before.

LOL! I've done my own little informal survey on the road here in Anchorage, and well over half the vehicles are either SUV's or monster trucks.
My estimate is that 1 out of 20 trucks on the roads here have anything in the back of them and of that 1, rarely is it even 1/10 filled to capacity. My theory is that these vehicles are driven by men with little dicks and driving big trucks and SUV's make them feel better about themselves. I think there's a lot of men with little dicks in AK.

Well, what can they really do about it? Bribe the local zoning boards? All of them? Then sooner or later people will elect people who won't be bribed easily for a change...

In that case, they'll pay about as much for fuel as they are paying now... Last i checked, those high performance hybrids produced minimal fuel savings compared to economy ones.

I sware I saw a 79 cents/gallon post at a hidden gas station back at home in NC. Obviously when I was a kid. It was closed who knows for when in the middle of a road, but the sticker was still there.

When I started driving gasoline cost $.23/gallon. Of course lots of people were also happy earning $2 to $4 an hour back then. My first home, a new 1200 square foot home, cost $17,400 and my monthly payment was about $140. My first car cost $75 but I also bought a new Datsun 240Z in 1971 for about $3400. I think a McDonald's hamburger was $.25 and a malt maybe $.15 and a movie I believe was $.75.

If you think about $.23/gallon gas as compared to $4/gallon gas today, this cost increase is a factor of 17.

17 (x) $4/hour wage should be $68/hour today...or about $139,000 per year...but the US average wage is about $37,000 today, which compared to $4/hour is a factor of 4.5

That $17,400 home I bought can be compared to today's average home price of $228,000. This inflation is a factor of 13.

That 240Z I paid $3400 for would probably be $50-$60K today, so this inflation might be a factor of 17.

According to this government website:

Average wages, median wages, and wage dispersion

US average wage was $37,000

US median wage was $25,000

In my post I was referring to the 'average' US wages...
