To those who have much, much is expected. We should be helping more. There is no reason for anyone to starve if we can reach them with supplies.

We cant or wont take care of our own.

Our export is war, killing starvation is just another weapon in our arsenal. Kill off the weak so that the strong can flourish.

We should first take care of our own properly. Milk is over $4 a gallon, bread is getting more expensive by the minute, all our food is too expensive. And we have plenty, so it shouldn't be that high priced.

Maybe we should show the countries that need food, how to grow their own, how to raise animals for meat, instead of giving them ours, and we pay out the butt for what little is left for us.

Most of our jobs are gone. Lots of our own people are running out of money, to keep themselves and those they love, alive and living a decent life.

QUOTE=Malkavian;160043 My father complains about inflation there, so i guess it's still a big problem.

As for global food... They have far too many people for their tech level. Need to either improve tech, or reduce number of people...

Well Malkavian, if you look closely at that picture, it appears there is plenty of food on those tables. So we can assume the main issue is the cost of that produce??

Whether in the USA or Russia or Timbuktu, I believe most people count their pennies or rubles or whatever and must prioritize their spending. In many cases, quality food is at the bottom of that list.

It's a pretty dark mark on the world society and especially the super-powers, that this world does not have enough low cost or free food for all it's citizens...

And although not enough, but many US cities allocate public land, typically called Pea-Patches, little parcels maybe 10 feet by 20 feet, with free water, in which citizens can garden flowers or vegetables.

There is so much that can be done by individuals if they would only put forth the effort...

I agree. Once I was very poor and I was very hungry, but not starving as I've seen so many in other countries who actually are. Anyway, I used to receive government surplus food every so often after waiting in almost endless lines. That was in the early 80"s. You can't really find that anymore. There were large boxes of cheese, and real butter, etc.

I truly believe(my opinion only) that our government surplus, including our grain, is being sold for high prices overseas. Our people shouldn't go hungry either, but there's a big difference between hunger and starvation.
I plant my own food, I freeze it or dehydrate it. Lots of us here on the board do that. One doesn't need a lot of land to do that. I've seen rooftops in New York city with big container gardens full of fresh vegetables. Even a room in the house with a lot of sunshine can be used as a container garden. Kitchen shelves by a sunny window can be utilized also.

In regard to undeveloped countries, when faced with starvation, there is also a lack of fresh water, there's dysentery and there's fatigue. I imagine when one looks across a dusty horizon you couldn't penetrate with a pickaxe, you would give up hope. What could possibly flourish in a horrible place such as that? These people need wells, shade trees, and irrigation along with top soil. Even if they couldn't plant wheat, they would then be able to plant vegetables, fruit trees and watermelon. Watermelon comes from the dry arid areas anyway and could take the place of water when necessary.

What is wrong with you? Bill Cosby's post is not even on this thread. And kicking dogs? That's not even funny as a joke.

I agree, but I didn't write that. I just copied the quote.
