T. Boone Pickens Plan

T. Boone Pickens Plan

Quote:
T. Boone Pickens, founder and chairman, BP Capital Management, is principally responsible for the formulation of the energy futures investment strategy of the BP Capital Commodity Fund and the BP Capital Equity Fund. With more than $4 billion under management, BP Capital manages one of the nation’s most successful energy-oriented investment funds. Pickens frequently utilizes his wealth of experience in the oil and gas industry in the evaluation of potential equity investments and energy sector themes. He has not been shy in predicting oil and gas prices and — more often than not — has been uncannily accurate.
Chairman of BP proposing a plan that does not involve oil ? well reduces our dependence. Actually impressed that one of these "well off" individuals is proposing a solution, a plan, rather than being part of the problem.....

Been seeing his ads and found this site, figured I would put it up here, did not see anyone mention it.....

The irony of his plan is he's in the same mind as he was when he had been a big oil man. He's going where the dollars are and will be in more abundance. Yes, Pickens is being a good corporate and private4 citizen by advancing his society and protecting the environment, but he's also every bit the venture capitalist he always was.

Proof to the concept you can make more money by being green than to be a polluter.

I guess in this day in age, with Lee Iacocca slamming corporations, I can believe anything. I hit the site about a week back. Something smells, but I was biased with his BP connection. Will have to redo and see.

I can see one of his points from the vague outlines I've read so far.

Wind is looking profitable and the numbers crunch well with out too much subsidizing. Maximize that, and fast. That seems practical and realistic. Greeny's love it, the numbers are not frightening as other alternatives, and the technology is here and now. Use what you know you have, and is the least resisted by the general public, and use it a lot.

Me personally I love nuke, but getting the stuff passed in all phases is a nightmare. No investors want to touch it for that reason, and the waste whether stored or recycled (a very expense but theoretical reality), is a deal breaker.

I seriously have dislike for this man. He is a liar, cheat and an all out thief. Vast portions of the land that this "plan" calls for was (or is in the process of being) stolen. He's wrapped his fingers in many lawsuits and is privately and illegally funding single house lawyers and bankrolling them along with feeding them work from his firm (the biggest in this country ind you) in order to try and smash what little hope remains of some of the people he's fucked over in this process from profiting at all. Meanwhile this "plan" will be putting billions more back in his pockets.

Fuck T. Boone!

Imminent Domain has become privatized. Ask Arlington residents who's houses were where the new Cowboys stadium is being built.

The whole thing with stadiums pisses me off. Everybody in the organization from the owners to the players make a ton of money yet they need government subsidization? Give me a break...they can all take a small paycut and still be well off without taking money from the citizens...many of whom don't even watch sports. It's not fair to make them pay for something they won't use.

The weird thing is that I remember having a conversation about this back at BM...and so many posters thought it was necessary since the stadiums are used for public purposes as well....bull shit...maybe a tax break for the use, but not a tax increase on the people.

and I'm a sports fan...

I knew this guy was probably a conniving prick, nobody get's that rich playing by all the rules. I didn't know he was trying to rig the game. The details of how it's going to be done I haven't seen yet.

Imminent Domain always gets my craw too. I always thought the buyout should be 10 times the going rate. There's always motivation to do so because there's so much money to be made, giving market value plus a few percentage points always seemed like a crumb.

If your going to have the bad luck of being one the few people who are effected by this borderline bullshit government action, why not have it be windfall for them. Yeah Ok, it's a bribe, but at least make it worth their wild if your going to force them to accept said bribe.

It should be like hitting the fucking lottery, if you own, or getting a great apartment you couldn't afford for like 10 years or something if you rent.
