Were it so easy to hang it all on a handful of men. There's an ideological cluster on either side who don't believe in compormise in any form. On the Palestinian end they're easily recognized and often reported, but just as nasty and vile are those among the Israeli government [and assocaited organizations outside of government] possessed with the same sweep'n'clear mentality with no room in their beliefs for a Palestinian state of any size.

Ike warned us about the military industrial compleX................ No one warned Israel.............

If you look @ the leadership it is often the same ppl.... All from the same circles... Military..

The machine is running the show there.............. RIghtwing fucking wackO's rule the roost......... We can all see/fear it happening here, it is not so obvious when it happens somewhere else........

How they deal w/ the Palestinians has changed to a much more hostile, belligerent & antagonistic one........ & how they fear & war monger their own has also changed...........

Just like here....... I don't believe that is just a coincidence........ There is a big bad bogey man around ever corner they must protect us from....... Invading..... Assassinating.......... kidnapping.............. torture......

THnX to the bogey men they put themselves above democracy, decency & the law & we (Israel/USA) are told this is what is needed to protect us............

Israel has turned from a quasi socialist state into a military w/ a state...

I think how they deal with the Palestinians has changed as well, it's even more heavy handed than it's been in the past. Olmert and his admin are exploiting the situation by selling fear to people where having a reason to fear is a reality. Meaning for Israeli citizens, some of that fear is legitimate.

But there'd be a lot less reason to fear if they would stop building settlements, start giving land back, give Abbas a chance to control and police the West Bank and stop punishing the citizens of Gaza for Hamas.
