Damascus is the terrorist capital of the world. This is because every single terrorist organization on the planet, has an enclave in Damascus. For most, though not all of these groups, these enclaves consist of the top leadership for each of these groups.

All of these groups have two things in common. 1.) They hate Jews! 2.) They really hate each other! The only reason that these people are not killing each other, is the fact that the Syrian security forces are very good at what they do! Even if they do not speak English!

With such a target rich environment, it makes no sense that the Israelis would waste such an opportunity on a third rate, rinky-dink, washed up, has-been like Mughniyah. In comparison to the other targets hiding out in Damascus, Mughniyah is so small a fish that he simply is not worth the effort.

Then there is the small matter of the Israelis denying that they had any part in the bombing. If the Israelis did have the ability to get to any of these leaders, hiding out in Damascus, they would be shouting it from the mountain tops. They would be telling the whole world that there is no place on this earth where these people can hide!!!

Then there is the small matter of the Syrian investigation of the matter. Or to be more precise, the lack of any action by the Syrian authorities. If there was even the smallest chance that the people responsible were Israelis, the entire country would have been locked down, until they had been caught.
& when were they suppose to do that??? After the bomb goes off....

A little late then don't yea think???

The usa/israel would seem to be the most motivated to get him......

According to who? You??? . . . Please!!!

I am afraid that you are going to have to forgive my skepticism. Every single source (reputable, or otherwise) that I can find, all have the Israelis denying any involvement.

A mouse cannot fart in Damascus without express approval from Syrian Security authorities. This is a little more serious than some mouse breaking wind!

The bombing could not have happened without direct assistance from the Syrian security forces. Syrian authorities are not going to assist anyone to kill this guy without direct orders from Iran. Those orders would have to come from the highest command level inside the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

So here we have (according to you) Mossad, The IRG, and Syrian security forces conducting a joint operation. This has to be the single most significant news story in the last two hundred years, and yet there is not one single news service on the entire planet that is writing about it.

Now . . . I have got to wonder why that is!!!

In any event, regardless of who actually planted the bomb, Israel is going to be blamed for it. Since the Israelis are going to be the ones to have to pay for this, you can bet that they are going to tear the entire region apart until they find out who really was behind it.

You raised an interesting point that they would be openly talking about it, but you have to remember that afterall, he was killed by a car bomb...
I was not aware of presenting any theories. Pointing out significant facts, and applying simple logic does not constitute a theory. However if you want a theory of mine, then here is one to try on for size:

To plug a possible leak.

The Russians have delivered their first shipment of processed uranium, to the Iranians. If I had to guess, I would say that the Iranians do not want the Israelis to find out what they are going to do with that material, until it is too late.

Going back to the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut. The Israelis tried to warn the American commander (Colonel Geraghty) of the attack. According to his testimony (Colonel Geraghty): He blew off the Israeli warning because he did not believe that they (The Israelis) were credible.

Since the Israelis new enough about the attack to try to warn the American commander about it. The question then becomes: Who told the Israelis about it?

Mughniyah was one of only a very few (maybe three???) people who could have leaked the details of the attack to the Israelis.

But then I suppose that relying on the vague claims of unsubstantiated, and anonymous sources would be easier than thinking for yourself. I do not care what your sources are, but I can guarantee that they are not based on any actual Israeli intelligence sources!
