Russians Vote for New President

Opposition politicians denounced the election as a farce, saying biased media coverage and strong support by Putin, a former KGB spy, for Medvedev had made the contest one-sided.

"This is a secret service KGB operation to transfer power from one person to another," opposition leader and former premier Mikhail Kasyanov told Reuters. "It has nothing to do with elections."

The Washington Post

The PoliticalGroove election on March 4,5 & 6 is not a farce, and like Russia, the future of our great forum is at stake. Vote early. Vote for Eman.

The word "Vote" should remain in quotes in regards to Russian "elections" because there's no democracy there.

So 109 million "voting" Russians are wasting their time because it is just a feel good fake election?

Lol... Eman has a point here. Russia's turnout is much higher than in the US, and Putin is far more popular than Bush.

Hail Russia. Mentor to China. Military rival of the USA. They will talk about Medvedev's height ad nauseum.

Some might say that our last couple of elections were kind of fake too. And how many Americans REALLY understand the Electoral College. Unless there is a landslide, it appears that our elections can be easily manipulated by one side or the other.
