"The Arab Mind"

I was just watching the
"Axis of Evil" comedy tour
and
waiting for the jokes.

I realized that, these guys are lost in the info of their culture.

Did anyone else notice?
Has anyone else, here, read the book or seen these guys?

I thought they were hysterical. You didn't enjoy that!? I'm look like I survived a dairy explosion yet I understood their humor and laughed throughout.

I think that they have two and I saw the second one, yes?

a real shift

What we learned at DLI and what I had to learn for belly dancing is,

The culture fills the mind first.

Middle eastern people see status in good clothes and the visual trappings of wealth and health.

The handsomest man with the best suit will be deffered to.

These cultures hate us and it would be better if they didn't.
Comedy can be a great bridge.

Still, for us, it is good to understand where they are in their minds.

See the quality of the suits, the order in which the comics go up and which ones work on jokes and which ones just chat to the audience and be handsome and well-dressed.

If a real friendship is to develop, we must understand that
quality of garment is a big deal to the Arab mind

To be honest, it sounds a bit manipulative. Indicative though... they want us to wear 'quality' garments, and when we say, 'i'll wear what the fuck i want, mother-fucker' (in a completely friendly way), they strap on the kamikaze vest.

Understand that the four comics in the Axis of Evil comedy tour are all U.S. citizens and about as American as anybody. And it's not as if they're only making fun of how Americans view Arab and Persians, but also poking fun at those same Arabs and Persians. The one guy who busts on his cousin in Jourdan was a riot. And that same guy has about the best Bush Jr. impersonation I've ever seen.

We have so much in common. We're willing to die so we can wear whatever garments we want. They're willing to die for 'quality' garments.

You'd think there's a better solution... like... they could use kaleidoscope sunglasses around people wearing 'unquality' garments.

What I saw the second time was three guys.
The first one was a scream of laughs.
THe second was good and the third just chatted.

It has more to do with defferance.

Like, if I'm having a great conversation with an old guy and he is not flirting and just friendly and he's wearing the traditional garb and he knows what is going on,
if a guy in a suit walks in, all defferance goes to the suit with out question.
There is a strange flow of conversation.
It took me a long time to understand.
It is based in being hosts to the Europeans who were shopping and them from the east who were selling.
generations of hosting created an us-against-them attitude.

There is a real difference from the front-of-house face and the hoem ways.
More than we have.

They learn to not make friends with us but,
comedy could cut through all that if we just know what we are cutting
