On the other hand, to be fair, they would very much like to open the door to US style pillpopping advertisements, sense a pattern here?

Want to guess what they'll start doing with a majority government?

Told you this pack is as bad as JR

PS - they could go into computers, issue warrants for searching homes, all that fun stuff (nothing new to Americans, I guess)
No, my question is what's the Harper [ir]rationale behind it?

Criticism of natural health products Bill C-51 mounts

There, without my editorializing or rants.

Ahh, okay now I've a crystal clear picture of how to get a vote of no confidence against the Harper government.

While the argument of improved safety regulation could be valid, the underlying motivation is right there in the quote. Watchdog groups need to dig around into Harper's campaign financing in conjunction with when he met with major pharmaceutical companies to plan and write this legislation. Effectively, Canada's twin scandal to Dick Cheney's energy meetings.

Find those crucial details and prove they're linked and you'll have the evidence to prove influence peddling let to a species interest composed bill meant to favor business profits over free and fair market forces. In the U.S. this wouldn't do much, but in Canada it'd be the end of Harper's government and put the conservative party back into the minority.

No, not so clear. To do that you've to gamble on the bad guys losing.

See above, Heretic. They've done some wicked PR moves, IE throwing Mulroney to the Canadian public (wow, and Mulroney was the architect of the Alliance/Conservative merge), apologizing for native schools (even as they strip fishing rights on the west coast & ignore Caledonia) --

Maybe I'm too cynical, I'll shut my head & let's see what other Canadians think.

just an update, I've received a pre-written post card for me to send to the House of Commons expressing my (and others') concerns over the wording of Bill C-51. Hopefully enough of these will be sent out to make them think about what they,re doing.

This bill would give entire control of supplements over to drug companies by only allowing MDs to "Prescribe" them as they see fit.
Quote:
Supplements are made illegal unless obtained through a prescription and 70% of all current supplements on the market will be removed!
Meaning if you want to take any supplements, you have to get a prescription from your doctor. Forget the fact that's an inconvenience and just plain stupid, but if your doctor for whatever reason won't give you prescription and you get some by other means, it would be illegal.
