Just this week in Des Moines a couple was beaten by police, eye witness describe incedent as unprovoked, police portray incedent as self-defense. No video available as far as I know. Witness did not stop or confront officers about their behavior for fear that they too would become victims of the same treatment. If police are not held to the same laws they are asked to enforce than how can we be expected to respect them. They should just be happy we fear them, that's the best you can hope for when hold yourself above the law.
