seen a big decrease in some of the more blatant forms of sexual discrimination in the workplace. (It also took the ascent of many women into positions of power.)

I am passionately against the public schools teaching morals, but I
just wonder about the feasibility of some kind of conscious raising
discussion groups in junior highs addressing the issue of gay rights (and maybe related issues), and a zero tolerance policy regarding gay bashing by school boards.
I think we have to change the way we teach kids all together. This need to teach American pride prevents us from making decent human beings and helps to create the masses of arrogant little shits we are breading today. It's funny to me cause if we are truly this wonderful country then we should be able to teach the truth from an un biased point of view without worrying what the youth will think.

We need to teach change. We need to inspire our kids to find a way to make this country and this world a better place. It is my opinion that the enemies of the world are the ones that don’t want it to change. It seems obvious that the ones who don’t want it to change are the ones who stand to lose the most if it does.

I bet we could create a list of things that should not only change but should have changed long ago and we would have a clear picture of the people who are standing in the way of that change.

This story isn't just about tolerance or lack of it. It's also about guns, or more specifically, how the hell did the other kid get his hands on the gun and bring it into the school. While the parents of the alleged perp can't be held legally responsible for raising a monster, they should be liable for the gun issue and fuck any Second Amendment paranoid freak who says otherwise. The real tragedy here is the fact that two lives are over before they even got started. There is a direct connection to the rhetoric of the religious right and the homophobic undercurrent deep in American culture and events like this. I hope somebody shows this article to that idiotic woman from Oklahoma whose assanine and hateful remarks were reprinted here just yesterday.

Absolutely. And for the religious who wonder why we dislike religion, here is just one of the reasons. The very thing that is supposed to bring peace has brought far more hatred, anger and war then any other thing in the history of mankind. For some people this murder was justified in their eyes specifically because of their God.

It is a part of what I was saying about the country and world needing more understanding. So many peoples minds are closed the moment they are born because their parents want them to believe in this one and only thing which prevents them from seeing the truth of the world.

Bit off-topic, but for all the Nazi's out there... you should learn, racial-'impurity' is actually a great thing. It allows us to achieve who knows how many tens or hundreds of thousands of years of evolution in only... 9 months? One of God's ways of guaranteeing racism does not survive.
