And that's not counting Soldiers who were injurred in Iraq and died as a result, but not "in country" so weren't counted.

I think Obama should have stuck with his "wasted" lives statement. It may have been pollitically incorrect, but it was honest.

If our nation, by a very large majority, believes the invasion of Iraq to be a mistake and a failure, then how can they not accept that the lives were wasted?

It's based mostly on interviews with those looking for lost relatives. It may not be as high as that, but so far lower, maybe a couple hundred thoudand.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty


The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Staff Sgt. James D. Bullard, 28, of Marion, S.C., died Oct. 30 in Spearwan Ghar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using RPG rounds, machine gun fire, mortars and small arms fire during combat operations. He was assigned to the South Carolina National Guard's 1st Battalion, 263rd Armor Battalion, in Marion, S.C.

Master Sgt. Thomas L. Bruner, 50, of Owensboro, Ky., died Oct. 28, in Kabul, Afghanistan from a non-combat related illness. He was assigned to the Headquarters, 2nd Brigade, 100th Division, U.S. Army Reserve, Owensboro, Ky.

The incident is under investigation.

The incident is under investigation.
