I'm continually amused at these "Reverands" that try to influence politics.
For example, have the "Reverands" Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ever really done any good for the Democrats? Has Jeremiah Wright done anything positive for Obama? They just look like opportunist buffons to me.
Was the "Rev." Jerry Falwell really any good for Republicans? Thankfully we had him to reveal that purple Teletubby is gay. "Pastor" Ted Haggarty? The family values preacher who likes gay prositutes?
Pat Robertson is about the only preacher who dabbles in politics that doesn't make an absolute ass out of himself, although that is debatable.

Religious drones don't have working brains. They do whatever their preachers tell them. So, yes, they are helpful when they tell their drones to support a given candidate.

In semi-defense of Sharpton and Jackson, they both contributed a great deal to the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's and- to his credit, Jackson does still help out a great deal on smaller low profile issues. I don't know why people still rail on Jackson, because he's rarely in the public eye anymore.

But overall, you're right that reverends, pasters, priests and preachers need to stay out of the electoral process... lest we decide to tax them.

Yes. Both have spoken about the Black condition vis-à-vis what whites think Blacks ought to hear.
For nearly two centuries, white “Reverends” wrongly taught Blacks they should be subservient to their white masters because the Bible said so.
What is worse, Sharpton telling Blacks the truth or white “Reverends” lying to Blacks?
And your invidious question fails to take note of the “Reverend” Jerry Faldwell et al and their racist rhetoric shouted daily from white pulpits?
Can/should we assume you think white "Reverends" haven't in many ways poisoned the body politic with their acerbic, coded racist messages?
Or are you equating Jackson and Sharpton to the thousands of white, rdeneck-southern "Bible-thumping” "Reverends" who preach hate and surrepticiously uphold violence against women in their preachments?
Those same white "Reverends” who daily/weekly rant and rail against Gays and a woman’s right to choose? Wright is the Pastor of the church Obama attends.
