The "surge" will be “successful” when Baghdadians can turn on their faucets and water runs out, flip a switch and their bulbs light.
The surge will be successful when Baghdad is free from the mountains of garbage.

We all know if we stop paying Sunni/Shi'a militiamen $10 a day to not shoot at us and others $10 a day to deconstruct last night's IEDs, Baghdad will have been "normalized".
As long as the money bucket brigades are passing out hard US currency, "The Surge" will appear to have succeeded.

Meanwhile, we likely will have to pay them $20 a day since many of them have gone back to making IEDS and using our greenback $ to import rockets to bombard the "Green zone".
"Hooray" for Capitalism.

Well, the value of the U.S. dollar has fallen.

Yep........... Paying for protection......... Maybe in fifty or a hundred years they will pay them just to stand in front of the wall around the green zone to protect/shield those "good ppl" inside..........

They lost there clean water, power & those other civil services but what is that compared to getting the right to vote for one of the "good ppl" we select.........?????
