Our military spending... all the war-loving conservatives. They hate high-taxes... they hate having their taxes raised. How much could taxes be lowered by cutting military spending?

Thomas Paine includes a simplistic outline for exactly that in Rights Of Man. While the numbers are quaint and antiquated, the principles are sound...principles always are, or the wouldn't be principles.

Written to encourage the British People to throw off the extravagance and sycophancy of the royal court, the cost of which is born by common people, Rights Of Man was much inspired by Thomas Paine's witness of the American Revolution.

Does having military bases all over the world actually make us safer? If not, how much could we lower taxes by eliminating all foreign bases?

They should be paying US to be there, to say nothing of not even being there at all.

We need to spend as much as we need to spend, for security, but how much more are we currently spending than we truly need to spend?

When you look at the figures, you have to think Americans are completely unaware of why their taxes are so high and where their tax-dollars are going.
