Could Wright be a Blessing in Disguise?
Not to Obama specifically but to American politics as a whole?
That maybe candidates will tend to distance themselves from churches and fundamentalism in fear that it may burn them down the road? My hope is that religious does not equal virtuous anymore.... maybe? |

Either that or parties will start training 'party preachers'. Tone the fiery rhetoric down, politically correct statements only, and mindfullness of party policy.
Either you get rid of religion from politics entirely and make it strictly a private matter, or you deal with it. Candidates from each respective party who wish to publicize their religion should choose the preachers they link the party to from the party's approved list of holy men. Not that I disagree with anything that Wright said; what he said though was politically damaging and could have been avoided by the above method. Jeremiah Wright received more coverage than the Iraq War
or the economy for weeks because it was important to Fox News and the Clinton campaign to make damn sure that the voters understood that Barack Obama is black, really black. I am the only person I know who was appalled to learn that George W. Bush consulted with Pat Robertson on Supreme Court appointments, and that he talked to Ted Haggard every Monday. But that is just me. I am so old I can actually remember when there was separation of church and state.

If it helped get Religion out of Public Policy, I'm all for it.

The problem is not that Wright is a religious figure. The problem is that much like Obama's other friends and mentors, he hates America.
Not all religious people hate America. Wright's blessing should be sending the message to all Americans that if you hang around with people who do, you don't get to be President.

No chance. Religious people (especially Christians), are constantly and relentlessly attempting usurpation. They never stop developing new strategies and brain-washing children. They will stop at nothing less than complete slavery and oppression.
