Second...how is it bigoted to call people who were bigots, bigots? At what point in time is it okay to say that they are? Does it need to be 100% of Germans being Nazis to call Germans at that time bigots? Seriously? Especially in a country that the National socialist party was winning so many elections...On that same note would it have been bigoted to call U.S. southerners racist 150 to 200 years ago? I don't think so....

and yes we did turn away ships or whatever...but I believe and don't quote me on this....that they were not returned to Germany...they were sent back to another country over there and I can't remember for the life of me which one right now...where they were supposed to be safe...of course it was our isolationism that caused it...but nonetheless we aren't talking about the U.S.
When you group an entire nation of people so afraid of being killed just for giving a piece of bread to a jew......that's when.

There is just a lot more to this history than can be just summised in the way I felt you did.

I don't think there are mitigating circumstances that make it wrong to call bigots, bigots...especially mass murdering bigots...ya know...?

I get that there are reasons they were...there always are...I just don't care...it only matters to the extent of what can be done to prevent it....doesn't change what was....

I guess we differ greatly on what we belive caused this time in German history. I just don't think it is in the nature of people to allow these things willingly. It takes a threat to allow it.....yet at the same time people living near Concentration camps mhad to know what was happening and made the decision to take a blind eye to it. There is much to say that they are guilty of a great deal....but that is why I believe one must speak up against what one does not agree with.

Never let you words be trampled on, speak up and be heard!

And here's the thing...there was a deliberate attempt by Germans to cast themselves as victims of Hitler...there were deliberate attempts to ignore the racism and predjudice behind the holocaust....

When there was East vs. West Germany there were even attempts to cast Nazism as either a product of totalitarianism(by the west) or as a product of Capitalism(by the East) in both cases they also portray Germans as the victims...Germany committed the atrocities with the help of so many from other countries as well...why do you think France fell so easy? because about 1/3 of the country were Nazi collaborators...

Fear is a strong weapon. But there was a great deal more....when money has nearly no value and you are selling yourself for a moldy piece of bread.....just to stay alive you allow things you would never allow under normal circumstances.
