Hello? What matters is not what you think about this or that medium but what is, in fact, playing as the news that "informs" the masses. Obama got most liberal, Westmoreland got most conservative...it was all over Fox News which, however shitty, DOES have the largest audience, does it not?

Again and again, pie-in-the-sky-do-gooder-tax-and-spend-liberal-moonbeam-wingnut Democrats confront reality with "But it shouldn't BE that way...therefore you are icky for mentioning it.

The Presidency is not the place for extremes, I expect you've noticed.

I guess cutting spending wouldn't work?

The Air Force wants to spend billions on the F-22 Raptor, and billions more on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. I read they want to buy 381 F-22's at 140 million apiece. Thats 53.3 billion dollars.

And all it takes is a 20 years old artillery shell and an egg timer to kill dozens of our troops on any given day in Iraq.

When you read a post as concise and honest as this one, it's hard to believe that a knob like Cowpoke actually started this thread.

A vote for Obama is a vote against more Right Wingers on the Supreme Court stupid: nothing has changed since 2000.

A a vote against Obama means women of child bearing age will lose their right to choose what to do with their own bodies.
Women will also lose their present right to RU486 prescriptions.

A vote against Obama is a vote for government in our bedrooms.

Blacks may lose their voting rights ala state of Indiana.

Prayer in school becomes a real possibility if we don't vote Obama/Clinton.

It'll work if we work it...but we don't have much of a stomach for cutting costs. There's lots and lots of plain old inefficiency and duplication and waste that can and should be cut out but what REALLY needs to be cut is the size of the federal employee roster.

Cutting costs very often involves cutting jobs. It would be fascinating in an awful way to know what percentage of our federal employees could be laid off without the machinery that is Behemoth Bureaucracy running one bit worse than it already runs WITH taxpayers savings on their wages exceeding what we'll have to pay them in unemployment benefits while they look for work that the market will bear.

Our military would be one of the elephants careening around the living room, with all the wreckage that one might expect from an elephant careening around a living room.

Taking on the military when the military has the weapons, well, you DO see the problem. Most Americans aren't comfortable with flipping the switch on serial killers...they're gonna take on the United States Armed Forces?

Here is what we are obliged also to bear in mind.

There IS a radical sect of the Brotherhood of Islam...into which Osama bin Laden was recruited by an instructor whilst he was being educated at a posh, private school in England...and their marching orders from God DO include our annihilation.

At least that's what an Osama bin Laden scholar said on NPR, but he may have been a racist and a liar.

When you talk about a simple explosive device being able to wipe out dozens of troops on any given day, here's what ya need to know. Suicide bomber/marketplace...one is very often heard in tandem with the other, yes?

Coincidence, or cunning? Maximum death toll=notoriety=fear PLUS an exclamation point on the message about commercialism.

ANY DAY OF ANY WEEK, that's when a suicide bomber could walk into any shopping center in America and do the EXACT same thing. For all our spending and swaggering, the reality is that we are COMPLETELY vulnerable right here at home and that there ARE people who DO mean us harm.

It is emotionally convenient, particularly for a spoiled and fearful people, to imagine that one "cool" president will make all that loathing evaporate by simply finally talking to the Extremists. But it is delusional...like pretending that Obama and Clinton kissing and making up will, poof, make all the Democratic Demolition Derby ill will disappear.

Democrats have NOT championed women. Women are not paid equally in any state in this nation. Candidates for high office must be married. Prostitutes are criminal while their fancy-pants Johns and Elliot's live the high life. Washington DC madams are found hanged while the Washington politicians who patronized her business are doin' business as usual.

Democrats have been RIGHT there, EVERY step of the way...spinelessly paying lip service to principles they don't defend and practices they don't effectuate.

Y'all have perhaps not been following that the evangelicals are pulling back. No, no...y'all are too busy creating squabbles so you don't have to fight the big boys to notice that, now that everyone's pissed at them, and now that there's talk of taxing them, the churches are re-thinking their involvement in politics.

Alas, Democrats do not keep their eyes on the prizes, only on personalities. Like the Activist Class, they would have nothing to do if the problems were actually fixed.

Yeah, like a boycott of Exxon Mobil.

Or a tax on windfall oil profits, just while we're at war.

Or a dramatic rise in car-pooling.

America has NEVER devised a sustainably prosperous peacetime economy. It is a challenge more immediate AND more pressing than the race and gender ceilings that pie-in-the-sky-everything-at-once Democrats recklessly infused into this campaign.

Nothin' breaks through prejudice like a healthy bank account.
