California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to be Recalled by CCPOA

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CIRCULATE RECALL PETITION
TO THE HONORABLE ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: Pursuant to the California
Constitution and Section 11020, California Elections Code, the undersigned registered qualified voters of the State of California hereby give notice that we are the proponents of a recall petition ( and that we intend to seek your recall and removal from the office of Governor of the State of.
California and to demand election of a successor in that office.
The grounds for the recall are as follows:
Catastrophic leadership failings and inept management, including, but not limited to, repeated acts of untrustworthiness, gross fiscal mismanagement jeopardizing funding for schools, infrastructure, public safety and other essential services; reckless borrowing, saddling taxpayers and future generations of Californians with billions of dollars in new debt; breaking your promise to "cut up the credit cards" and oppose new taxes; failure to reform California's correctional system, causing a federal takeover of prison health care and costing taxpayers an estimated $8 billion; using state workers as "scapegoats" for your leadership failure and threatening their rights and financial wellbeing; soliciting and accepting special interest money at levels never before seen in California history'; betraying voter trust and mortgaging our children's future; and leaving California in far worse shape than before your election.
The printed names, signatures, and residence addresses of the proponents are as follows:

(No names given)

Reads like a collection of random trumped up charges and other hostile vageries. He might be republican, but California actually has a governor who'll stand up against the prison guard union and prison building industry [that's who's actually fueling this dubious recall petition].

Bunch of semi-uniformed girly men if you ask me.

No, 'Tic (If I may ) Ppl here in Ca are really ticked off.

Funding for children and school are being slashed at an unprecedented rate.

I believe that prison guards recently received their pay for the month of June.

A friend of mine's spouse is some sort of forensics psychologist. He is contracted by the state to help decide which predators should be released from prison-a fairly important job. He, too, recently received his pay for the month of June.

Uhm.....what do you mean by actually? The title says it and there is a link directly to the unions website. It's all over the news out here. California Correctional Peace Officer's Association is backing this attempt pretty much on behalf of the state workers for failing on many counts.....but particularly because of the governors mishandling of the entire prison situation.

It will probably make the union look bad....but what's new about that?

They make their union sound like an official branch of law enforcement when they're really incarceration mercenaries. Many prison guards are former cops who have too many infractions to be trusted on the beat or washed out of the police academy.

No. I can tell you that there is a far more strengiant process envolved in background investigations to become a California Corrections Officer. In truth there is a high ratio of veterans rejoining the private sector and turn to the department for it's superior pay and and level of importance to the community.

They're low grade zoo keepers. [Low grade, because they mistreat prisoners worse than zoo animals... and that's bad.]

...with no requirement for any college degree (even an AA)!

They get paid a TON more than teachers.

It's a total crock, if you ask me. My brother-in-law is a CA peace officer. He barely got his GED, served 4 yrs in the military and then worked as a laborer for many years. He had a neighbor who worked at a prison, so he decided to apply. He did the training (weeks, not years). Currently, he makes over $100K per year.

It really does tick me off that his job is "worth more" than mine.

What do we really value as a society? Keeping people behind bars or educating them?

Maybe because its a dangerous and unrewarding job. COs get feces thrown in their faces, spit on, blood flung at them. They get stabbed, sometimes worse. They deal with the scum of society everyday.

I wouldn't want that job. Go visit your local medium security prison or county jail. I do depos sometimes and I usually take about two showers when I get home. Let them have their money, the burn out rate is very high on jobs like CO, I think the average CO lasts less than 2 years.

Teachers all over have to deal with kids who are just a hearbeat away from prison. Many get attacked, threatened or hurt. It's no walk in the park.
