Because acting was and is a way to keep your true self hidden, yet let it come out. That's how it was in the old days. And some people just have talents we others do not have. Our attitudes are taught, not just instinct. Religion had a lot to do with gay's being locked in the closet for as long as they were. Then there was the "being a man" thing. Talk about pressure! Making babies in not the only reason people have sex. Same in the animal world especially with primates.

People are afraid of homosexuality because if an entire species becomes gay, it makes it difficult for the species to survive. As humans, we should know better.

Not to sound arrogant, but far more then anyone here, in fact.

speaking of disingenuous ~ i didn't say you were a bigot. i didn't even imply it and fwiw, i don't think you are.

The point is, I don't really care about what someone else's sexual preferances are. It does not effect me. I'm neutral and disinterested. While on one hand, I'm not going to go around "gay bashing" because I can really care less, neither am I going to shout off the rooftops how much I love gay people and try to pander to them. I'm no social conservative by any stretch of the imagination, but neither am I going to go to a gay pride parade.
no the point is you still think of it as a "gay cause" whereas i see it as equal rights.

and no matter whether you're gay or not ~ equal rights affect us all.

gender isn't a race issue and neither is people with disabilities...but that doesn't mean they are not equal rights debates.

well if the question is ~ do i believe 3 people can be married, my answer is no. but if 2 of them want equal rights and have a 3rd as a house guest without government benefits = not my business.

but heterosexuals are only allowed one marriage partner which translates to healthcare and taxes and a multitude of "equal rights"

Equal rights shouldn't be about any group of people...It should be (as BP was saying) about individual rights. There is no reason to deny any person the same opportunities/freedoms in life as anybody else...

How boring that his debate still rages on. Homosexuality has been from the beginning of time in every culture. Why people care so much what others do is sill so surprising to me. Should they be allowed to marry, I say , yes. Why should hetero's have all the misery . Hetero's should be more concerned with how to keep divorce rates down as opposed to fighting about 2 loving people wanting to commit to one another. My 2 cents, I don't even find it worth the discussion with ignorant people anymore. A good expiriment was Morgan Spurlock's 30 days where a straight laced guy from Michigan had to live with a gay man in the Castro. The guy was changed forever. Gays aren't the devil or the bogeyman.

Live and let live.
