"Talking" to righties

A rightie in my acquaintance tried to tell me that Iraq would be a real mess if we were to leave.

I informed her that Iraq is already a mess. The others present laughed.

This may be shocking, but they think we're just as stupid. I have 2 brothers and a lot of friends who are conservatives, and from our world views, you'd think we inhabited different planets.

This same person also compared the deaths of 9/11 to Israeli deaths by Palestinians.

I responded that was a poor comparision since Palestine is an occupation situation so it did not merit a response since the comparision showed a poor comprehension of the sitch there in the ME.

Now I have very little to do with this person.

There is no discussing with the rabid right wing hate and fear mongers that contunally provide oral praise on this president that borders on fellatio. They are incurably ignorant, intolerant and insipid. And that is their good points!

There is no having discussions with individuals of reactionary, emotion-driven, and intellectually vacuous tendencies.

These types of individuals--usually of the hard left persuasion-- throwing paint on a woman wearing a fur coat, and causing riots in protest to anything that threatens to remove trade barriers, consequently exposing workers and the environment to the “dangers” of globalization.

These individuals, not content to live in an insular world of self-delusion, these die-hard crackpots believe others must be coerced, indoctrinated, and deceived to think the same as well.

If you insist on perpetuating sterotypes, then turn-about is fair play no?

What disgusts me most about these types of people is how they are incapable of turning perspectives, of seeing the merits of having more than one point of view available.
