2 wars, troops in 150+ countries & the taX rate should be????

We don't like paying taXes.. But then there ain't many things we do enjoy paying for either.........

I hear the taX cries & mcbush promises to make the bush taX cuts permanent.....

What rate would you say is appropriate given the high level of us military (& related) spending...........

You just don't understand 'New Conservative' economics, is all. I'll explain it for you. It envolves one of two options:

1) Use the U.S.A. Visa Platinum Card. Leave the paying for later, like say the Democrats (so you can blame them for spending) or for your kids/grandkids.

2)Use the U.S.A Visa Platinum Card. When the country goes belly up, you (since you long ago invested in foreign currency) take your stocks and go live in Dubai.

There, now don't you feel silly for not understanding?

What level of spending is appropriate....I fear that we're only asking for disaster to try to fund tax levels at the current spending level....fiscal discipline would be cutting unnecessary spending and taxing at the level needed for that. I know unnecessary is subjective....but I don't know anybody who believes that what we spend now is acceptable...

but are you asking for a flat rate for income tax? FICA? FUTA?

Presently, depending on income we pay up to 35%... + state taxes etc............

Agreed that we are spending far more than we are bring in........

Cutting taxes or even maintaining the present levels continue to have result in negative $$$$$$$..........

SO what gives............ CUt where or raise taxes........ to XX%.....

I support an elimination of income taxes, replacing them with a national sales tax. Combine that with smaller government, and end to extreme pork, and intelligent tarriff/import taxes.

We can't impose tarriffs without being sanctioned.

But the military is a good place to start cutting...close bases, end the war. The war on drugs is another good one. And all of the pork spending as already mentioned.

the WTO that we agreed to join.

It's the same reason that we can't subsidize steel or coal.
