Captured? You are talking about the ones that our agencies have captured. Where your statement is misleading is that our Army and Marines on the ground have put a much larger dent in their population than the French police. While we've captured a lot of them, we've killed a lot of them too. And you bring up london and Madrid.........what does that have to do with an innefective policy on our part? That's their baby, not ours. We're doing our part to protect our own, and if they are failing to do that, then that falls on their shoulders. I don't think any more of our soldiers need to die in France.

I voted "serve" but I think the government's role is to both serve and protect - but I guess you're serving your country by protecting it too?

Yes.........

But............>>>>

I think it depends on how one defines serving...... I see serving as something different & unique from protect...... Protect, IMO, would be a reference to wellbeing/life/liberty etc........ Serving would not necessarily include this but would include things more related to comfort, cooperation etc related to social issues etc........ Again that is my interpretation.......

America is first & foremost protecting us against some foreign power or entity...... But not against other enemies such as cancer, disease etc......... I think we rank like 37th & our healthcare system is a disaster.........

IMO America has failed to protect her citizens.... Or @ the least far to many of them. Now if we were a poor Nation this would be understandable but that is not the case........ THis is not for a lack of cost. We pay the highest on earth......

The rest of the free world has worked this out..... You gotta wonder how they can "protect the free world" when they can't even manage to protect their own constituency........

Inclusive with the idea of 'serving' is protecting

-- The major problem being how each of us defines these terms - what I feel government should (& should not do) will be leagues from what DRS (likable for a Libertarian, so I'm using him as an example) would say.

...Or Cookie, or my own bloody brother.
