For example, Obama could have told McCain okay we'll do the public financing program but in parallel we're going to continue to solicit funds. If there is a single violation from the Reps or their supporters, the public financing stops. If there are no violations and we can both adhere to the intents and purpose of public financing, then the Dems will donate those solicited funds to charity or wherever the people feel they should go. An option like this, and others, allows the Dems to continue soliciting funds, it puts both candidates into public financing, and it places the onus on the Republicans, specifically McCain, to follow or break the rules.

Moved to the appropriate forum. Hit pieces by republicans will not be tolerated in the elections forum, post them in here or face infractions or banning.

Ppl have posted here many times that when asked a question about Public Financing for the GE, Obama said he would seek an agreement with the Rethug nom.
The current Public Financing legislation is very flawed as wel as partially written by McCain: it exempts the use of family owned privates jets from Public financing. Gee, wonder whom he had in mind for that one....? ![]() No one is here for hand holding so brush up on those reading comp skills, please. |

I object strongly to the fact that you feel the need to protect Democrats from information or opinions that might hurt their feelings. I am very upset with your new policy that says Election Center is not about discussing the election anymore, that is, apparently, unless you think Obama can do no wrong. This is the problem with Democrats. They run scared. Just look at the last two years of congress. They're pussies. I demand you put this back to Election Center. And I demand you let Democrats fight it out for themselves instead of finding a way to protect them from big-bad republicans, or in my case, a big-bad-greenie who thinks that Obama has chinks in the armour that should be recognized and fixed instead of left to rust and expose more things. If you want to make a thread where it's all roses and posies for Obama folks, go ahead. But don't pretend the Election Forum is about the election anymore. And I hope noone here is for hand holding, and I think people should join me in my outrage that the Election Center can no longer be used to discuss the actual election. |

I fully expect to hear that we will not be able to have any conversation or different ideas, yada yada yad because we are only allowing one party per forum. Well they do it at democratic underground and they have millions of users posting all the time. Same goes for republican based forums, do you really think theyhave a bunch of democrats hanging out just for a different opinion? Be realistic man. The bottom line is the two simply can't get a long and we are segregating them off. |

As for me, I'm pretty neutral on the parties as I wouldn't join either one. The first site I go to to check on questionable issues is FactCheck.org and I don't think anyone can get more balanced than that. |
